One of the newer Xbox One games that has you smashing faces is Coffee Crisis. Released in 2018, this modern side-scroller from an indie developer is both satisfying and fun to play. If you never played Raging Justice, it's a must-play beat 'em up game for any Xbox One owner. Other options include 99Vidas, OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes, and Wulverblade, which is a blast when you play 2-player co-op.

Not every beat 'em up game on this list is a Xbox One original - take Castle Crashers Remastered for example, which came out in 2008.     Castle Crashers is a 2D beat 'em up video game independently developed by The Behemoth and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It features music created by members of Newgrounds. The Xbox 360 version was released on August 27, 2008 via Xbox Live Arcade as part of the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade. The PlayStation 3 version was released in North America on August 31, 2010 and November 3, 2010 in Europe via the PlayStation Network. A Microsoft Windows version, exclusive to Steam, was announced on August 16, 2012. The game is set in a fictional medieval universe in which a dark wizard steals a mystical gem and captures four princesses. Four knights are charged by the king to rescue the princesses, recover the jewel, and bring the wizard to justice. Castle Crashers was well received by critics on all platforms on which it was released. The Xbox 360 version holds a score of 82.73% at GameRankings and 82/100 at Metacritic, while the PlayStation 3 version averages 88.67% and 85/100 at the same sites. The PC version holds a score of 7.9 on Metacritic, indicating generally favorable reviews.

    Transformers: Devastation is an action hack and slash video game based on the Transformers franchise developed by PlatinumGames and published by Activision.     Aztez is a side-scrolling brawler, turn-based strategy video game by Team Colorblind. The player fights through areas within the Aztec empire prior to the Spanish invasion. Team Colorblind, a two-person indie game development team, designed Aztez to play like an arcade game with the action of God of War or Devil May Cry. Aztez was released on August 1, 2017. Set 20 years prior to the Spanish invasion, the player fights in areas based on places in the Aztec empire. Player weapons include a sword, spear, knife, and club. The game uses a grayscale and blood red color palette similar to that of 2010 action game MadWorld.
