Here's How Much The Cast Of 'Lost' Aged Throughout The Series

When Lost first premiered in 2004, everyone wondered just what would happen to this group of plane crash survivors who were stranded on a mysterious island. In fact, even after the show's six-year run, many viewers are still unsure what exactly happened on the island.

While we may never understand exactly what their fate amounted to, we can at least look back at how the cast from the first season aged over the course of the show's six years on the air. Though the characters might not have aged on the island, it's kind of impossible for the actors themselves to remain unchanged over the course of such a long-running show. Matthew Fox (Jack Shephard) ended up with a little bit more grey hair, while - interestingly enough - Jorge Garcia (Hurley) remained pretty much the same.

Now, it's time to take a look at just how the cast from Lost changed over the span of the show. *Spoiler Alert! There are a few extra juicy details accompanying the following before-and-after photos below, so if you still (somehow) haven't finished watching the series, don't let your eyes stray too far. On the other hand, if you are all caught up, check out these other shows like Lost for something new to get hooked on!

During the course of the show, Emilie de Ravin played both the "sane and crazy versions" of Claire Littleton. When it comes to talking about her role on the show, de Ravin has said, "It was great to be able to do such different things. It wasn't a show about five people doing the same thing every day."

Charlie Pace goes from "the ex-junkie rock star" to the "self-sacrificing hero" over the course of the show. As Dominic Monaghan has described his character:

"Charlie had been in so much pain all his life - he'd been a drug addict, a failed rock star, abused by his brother, he's not really had great success with women, he's let people down on the island. I think he was trying to work out who he was supposed to be and what his purpose was. And it turned out that this was his purpose. I think that gave him a great feeling of serenity. To know that his legacy is that he saved [all these] people's lives is something that allowed him to die with dignity."

Jorge Garcia, the actor who played "Hurley," never seemed to age - or lose weight - a fact that confused many viewers (seeing as they were stranded on an island). As co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse explained:

"Hurley's inability to lose any significant weight, like many other things on the island, is shrouded in mystery. That mystery, however, will be definitively solved during February sweeps... well, as definitively as anything ever gets solved on Lost, anyway."

Over the course of the series, Sun's character evolved from being timid to totally empowered. As Yunjin Kim described her character:

"It's been a pleasure figuring her out and learning more about her as the seasons went on. I think out of all the characters - not to compare or anything - I think Sun developed more out of all the characters on the island."
