This list includes only domestic gross numbers, which means these films are the highest grossing in U.S. history.

The highest grossing films of all time include some recent blockbusters you won't be surprised to see on the list (like The Avengers and Jurassic World, but it also has some holdouts from the earlier years of cinema that might surprise you (without giving away their position on the list, Star Wars and E.T. have held up remarkably well). If it's made a ton of money at some point, it's probably among the top grossing movies.
