The least interesting celebrated 2012 films are all good movies, but they all fall short of the hype they received from critics and fans alike. These are the most overrated movies of 2012, the most anticipated movies of 2012 and some of the best movies of 2012, however they are also some of the movies who let us down during the year.
An argument could be made that these least interesting yet critically acclaimed movies all did what they were created to do, make money. "The Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Hunger Games, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" and "Skyfall" topped the box office tallies, each earning over a quarter of a billion dollars, but were they really the most exciting movies of the year? Nope.
What these movies did do was cause a lot of buzz then underwhelm rather than deliver. Looper had a great story but it might also put you to sleep in the middle. Bachelorette got a lot of buzz but showed up light on the laughs. Cloud Atlas was touted as a masterpiece, not a confusing way to spend a couple hours. All of these movies were good but far from as great as you'd expect.
