The Lobster movie quotes tells the story of a dystopian world where singles are sent to a hotel in order to find a partner and if they fail, they're turned into animals and sent into the woods. The romantic drama was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay he cowrote with Efthymis Filippou. After winning the Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, The Lobster opened in theaters in the United States on May 13, 2016.
In The Lobster, the newly single David (Colin Farrell) is sent to a hotel for singles with 45 days to find a mate or face transformation into the animal of his choice and sent into the woods. Along with his dog, who is actually his brother who failed at the hotel a few years back, David makes friends with the Lisping Man (John C. Reilly) and The Limping Man (Ben Wishaw).
Though David told the Hotel Manager (Olivia Coleman) that he wishes to become a lobster should he fail, David ends up escaping the hotel. He goes to live in the woods with the rest of the Loners and meets the Short Sighted Woman (Rachel Weisz), the two form a connection and even create their own sign language, but with many forces trying to control their every move in this dystopian society, living happily ever after with each other is easier said than done. The Lobster brought some dark comedy to theaters already showing other films including Money Monster, Captain America: Civil War, A Bigger Splash, Ratchet & Clank and Mother's Day.
A Lobster is an Excellent Choice
Hotel Manager: Have you thought about what animal you'd like to be if you end up alone? In a discussion about what animal he'd like to be should he not find a mate within 45 days at the hotel, David explains why he wants to be a lobster. The Hotel Manager is impressed with the choice.
David: Yes, a lobster
Hotel Manager: Why a lobster?
David: Because lobsters live for over 100 years, are blue-blooded like aristocrats and stay fertile all their lives. I also like the sea very much. I waterski and swim quite well since I was a teenager.
Hotel Manager: I must congratulate you. The first thing most people think of is a dog, which is why the world is full of dogs. Very few people choose an unusual animal which is why they're endangered. A lobster is an excellent choice.3014Should this be higher or lower?

You'll Turn Into an Animal
Hotel Manager: As you know from your brother's experience, if you fail to fall in love with someone during your stay here, you'll turn into an animal. In explaining the plot of the film, the hotel manager explains to David that he's there to fall in love and if he doesn't do so within 45 days, he'll be turned into an animal. Sounds like the typical hotel stay, right?160Should this be higher or lower?
This is My Brother
Hotel Maid: Have you ever been on your own before?Upon checking into the hotel, David is asked a multitude of interesting questions. They all seem to make sense, at least until he explains that the dog with him is actually his brother.
David: No, never
Hotel Maid: Your last relationship lasted how many years?
Hotel Maid: Sexual preference?
Hotel Maid: Any children?
Hotel Maid: And the dog?
David: This is my brother. He was here a couple of years ago but he didn't make it.167Should this be higher or lower?
We've Developed a Code
Short Sighted Woman: We've developed a code so that we can communicate with each other even in front of the others without them knowing what we are saying. When we turn our heads to the left it means, I love you more than anything in the world. And when we turn our heads to the right it means, watch out, we're in danger. We had to be very careful in the beginning not to mix up I love you more than anything in the world with watch out, we're in danger. When we raise our left arm it means, I want to dance in your arms. When we make a fist and put it behind our backs, it means let's f***. The code grew and grew as time went by and within a few weeks we could talk about almost anything without even opening our mouths. The Short Sighted Woman explains the secret sign language she and David have developed to communicate in the woods. While some of the phrases seem to be a bit specific, it seems to work well for them.119Should this be higher or lower?
