The most unhealthy fast food items include the usual suspects: hamburgers, hot dogs and fried chicken strips. Anyone not living under a rock probably realizes that fast food isn't the healthiest of options. What might surprise you, however, is the number of salads and sandwiches that appear on this list. Wait, what?! Salads are fattening? Yes, they can be. Behold, a list of the most unhealthy fast food items, sure to expand your waistline and shrink your arteries.

If you're trying to eat healthier, avoid the foods on this list. Period. You have other options. If you aren't sure, avoid any menu item that includes the word "double," "super," "large" and, sadly, "bacon." Yes bacon, I'm totally calling you out. One piece of bacon won't kill you - but add several pieces to an already calorie and fat-laden burger, and you've got big problems. You add more calories, more fat and definitely more sodium. I've tried to include sodium information here, because it's just as important as calories when you look at the big, 'unhealthy' fast food picture.

Hopefully, this list will educate and inspire you to make better choices if and when you have to go the fast food route. Everyone has to eat on the run these days.
