Thomas Vincent Fleming nicknamed "Sleuth", was a professional baseball player. He played parts of three seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily as an outfielder. His minor league baseball career spanned seventeen seasons, from 1894 until 1910.

Norbert Sander

Bill Rodgers

William Sherman Rodgers (December 5, 1922 – May 13, 2002) was a Major League Baseball right fielder who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1944 and 1945.  A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he stood 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) and weighed 162 lbs.Rodgers is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in the major leagues during World War II.  He made his major league debut on September 27, 1944 in a road game against the Boston Braves at Braves Field.  He played in one more game that season, and in his one appearance in right field recorded no chances.  Rodgers played in just one big league game in 1945 (April 21), going 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter against the Chicago Cubs at Forbes Field.
In a career total of three games he was 2-for-5 (.400) with one run scored.  On November 5, 1946 he was drafted by the New York Yankees from the Pirates in the 1946 minor league draft, but never again made it to the major leagues.
Rodgers died at the age of 79 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Alberto Salazar

Alberto Salazar (born August 7, 1958) is an American track coach and former world-class long-distance runner. Born in Cuba, Salazar immigrated to the United States as a child with his family. They moved to Manchester, Connecticut and then to Wayland, Massachusetts, where Salazar competed in track and field in high school. Salazar is best known for his performances in the New York City Marathon in the early 1980s and his 1982 Boston Marathon victory known as the "Duel in the Sun." He held American track records of 13:11.93 for 5,000 m (July 6, 1982 – Stockholm) and 27:25.61 for 10,000 m – (June 26, 1982 – Oslo).
Salazar currently is the head coach of the Nike Oregon Project in Portland, Oregon. He won the IAAF Coaching Achievement Award in 2013 during a ceremony hosted by the International Athletics Foundation in Monaco. In June 2015, Salazar was named in a joint BBC Panorama and ProPublica investigation into doping allegations.

Rod Dixon

Rodney Phillip "Rod" Dixon (born 13 July 1950) is a former New Zealand middle- to long-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, and in 1983 won the New York City Marathon.

Ibrahim Hussein

Ibrahim Kipkemboi Hussein (born June  1958 in Kapsabet, Rift Valley) is a retired long-distance runner from Kenya, who was a three-time winner of the Boston Marathon in 1988, 1991, and 1992. He was also the winner of the New York City Marathon in 1987, and multiple other marathons in his years. He and his wife Zainab Ibrahim are both alumni at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Ibrahim Hussein is among many athletes on the hall of fame in New Mexico. The couple have five children, Hussein Ibrahim, Farida Ibrahim, Hadija Ibrahim, Jamal Ibrahim and Warda Ibrahim.
Ibrahim Hussein was the first Kenyan (and also the first African) to win Boston, setting a world record and having books written on his legacy. Since his 1988 win, the Kenyans have come to dominate Boston. In fact, Kenyans have won the race every year since 1988 with exceptions in 1989, 1990, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015. The only non-African to win Boston since 1988 were South Korean  Lee Bong-Ju and Italian Gelindo Bordin.
He is now retired and owns Amedo Center, which is an apartment complex that comprises a restaurant, abe's pool place and an electronics shop. in Eldoret, Kenya, as well as many other properties in Kenya. He also runs a training camp for young Kenyan athletes who are given a chance to race alongside elite athletes. He was the chairman of Athletics Kenya North Rift branch. He now holds one of only nine offices in the world at the Regional Development Center in Nairobi, after John Velzian's retirement. He works as a representative of English-speaking countries in Africa, holding one of the important offices associated with International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), which is an athletic federation governing the sport of athletics.
His 1988 win in Boston was a photo finish with Juma Ikangaa. Hussein held off Ikangaa by a mere second. This was the closest Boston Marathon finish ever up until that point. There would be a closer finish in 2000 when Elijah Lagat won. Ikangaa would go on to finish second again in the next two Boston Marathons but would never win it.
He is the older brother of Mbarak Hussein, a naturalized U.S. citizen who is an elite Master's marathoner in his own right and who has two top five finishes himself in Boston (fifth in 2001 and fourth in 2002.) Hussein is a graduate of St. Patrick's High School (Iten, Kenya). And the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA).

Steve Jones

Stephen Howard "Snapper" Jones (October 17, 1942 – November 25, 2017) was an American basketball player in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association who later become a television analyst. He was a three-time ABA All-Star. Jones' brother Nick also played in the ABA and NBA.
During his time in the ABA, Jones picked up the moniker "Snapper" but he never revealed how it came to be.

Juma Ikangaa

Juma Ikangaa (born 19 July 1957 in Dodoma) is a marathon runner from Tanzania, who won the 1989 New York City Marathon in a course-record time of 2:08:01. Ikangaa was also a sentimental favorite in Boston Marathon after finishing second three years in a row at 
the Boston Marathon from 1988-1990.  A great trainer, Ikangaa said "The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare."

Douglas Wakiihuri

Douglas Wakiihuri (born September 26, 1963 in Mombasa) is a former Kenyan long-distance runner, who won the gold medal in the marathon at the 1987 World Championships in Athletics in Rome.
No other male Kenyan runner had ever won the marathon at World Championships or Olympic Games until 2007, when Luke Kibet became a world champion. The following year, Wakiihuri won the silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, finishing behind Gelindo Bordin.
In 1989 Wakiihuri won the London Marathon. In 1990 he won the New York Marathon. Wakiihuri was famous for wearing white gloves during races.
He now runs a marathon fitness center and training school.

Salvador García Melchor (born 1 November 1962) is a Mexican marathon runner who won the New York Marathon in 1991 in a time of 2:09:28. He also won the 1992 Rotterdam Marathon in a time of 2:09:16. Other notable wins include the 1988 Mexico City Marathon (2:19.02) and the 1991 Long Beach Marathon (2:16.08). He finished second in the 1990 New York marathon with a time of 2:13.19.

Andrés Espinosa Pérez (born 4 February 1963 in Monclova, Coahuila) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner who specialized in marathon races.
Espinosa finished ninth at the 1995 World Championships in 2:16:44 hours. He won the 1993 New York Marathon and achieved his personal best time of 2:07:19 hours at the 1994 Boston Marathon. He set the world masters (+40) record for the marathon in Berlin Marathon 2003 (2:08:46), which lasted nearly a dozen years until it was broken by 2 seconds in 2015 by Evergreen Kenneth Mungara. He also won the Lisbon Half Marathon 1994.

Germán Silva Martínez (born 9 January 1968 in Zacatlán, Puebla) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. His foremost achievements were back-to-back victories at the New York City Marathon in 1994 and 1995. He represented Mexico twice at the Summer Olympics, in 1992 and 1996. He also competed at the World Championships in Athletics on two occasions. His personal best for the marathon is two hours, eight minutes, and 56 seconds.
Outside marathon running, he was the silver medallist at the 1994 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships (where he set the Mexican record of 1:00:28) and won a gold medal in the steeplechase at the 1990 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Abdelkader El Mouaziz

Abdelkader El Mouaziz (born 1 January 1969) is a Moroccan long-distance runner. He holds the record for the most sub 2:10 marathon runs at 13 (as of September 2007), now tied with Stefano Baldini. El Mouaziz is a two-time winner of the London Marathon, in 1999 and 2001, and was the runner-up in 1998 and 2000. He also won the 1994 Madrid Marathon and the New York City Marathon in 2000. He was fifth at the 2002 Chicago Marathon.

Martin Lel

Martin Kiptolo Lel (born 29 October 1978) is a Kenyan long distance and marathon runner.  He won the London Marathon in 2005, 2007, and 2008, the New York City Marathon in 2003 and 2007 and the Great North Run in 2007 and 2009. His personal best time, as of April 2008, is 2:05:15, which he ran in the 2008 London Marathon setting a course record. Lel is coached by Claudio Berardelli and lives in the Rift Valley region of Kenya.
Lel ran his first marathons in 2002: he failed to finish at the Prague Marathon, but in his first finish he managed to claim second in the Venice Marathon. He won Lisbon Half Marathon in 2003, 2006 and 2009, was the gold medalist at the 2003 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, and won the Portugal Half Marathon in 2005. He made his Olympic debut for Kenya at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and came fifth in the marathon.
He beat Samuel Wanjiru to win the inaugural edition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon in 2010. In August 2010 he ran at the Falmouth Road Race and took third place. After almost 3 years without running a marathon, he participated in the 2011 London Marathon as a replacement for Samuel Wanjiru, who was originally invited to run, but he still placed second with a time of 2:05:45, out-sprinting Patrick Makau at the finish line. He ran the 15K Saint Silvester Road Race at the end of the year, but was beaten into fourth place. Lel entered two races the year after: he was runner-up again at the 2012 London Marathon (finishing in 2:06:51) and was victorious at the Portugal Half Marathon with a time of 61:28 minutes.In 2011 the American Charity, Shoe4Africa, funded and opened the Shoe4Africa Martin Lel school in Lel's home village, Kimn'geru, to honor the athlete.
His brother, Cyprian Kimurgor Kotut, followed in his footsteps as a marathon runner and won the 2016 Paris Marathon.
