The Cast Of 'The O.C.': Where Are They Now?

Updated September 23, 2021 3.9k views14 items

First airing in 2003, The O.C. depicts the opulent lives of teens (and their parents) living in Newport Beach of Orange County, CA. The SoCal characters suffer through the pains of high school, college, love, dating, incarceration, and hormonal drama. Since the series ended in 2007, fans have wondered what happened to The O.C. cast. Some members of the ensemble have gone on to successful careers, while others have gradually disappeared.

Although fans watched the cast of The O.C. change drastically from the first episode to the last, they may be even more surprised to see the former cast of The O.C. in 2019. For some, post-The O.C. credits include some of the best dramedies of the 2010s, blockbuster movies, and directorial debuts to the end of long-running TV shows. On the flipside, a few unlucky cast members' careers have come to a halt since the teen drama series ended. Here's where the cast of The O.C. is now.

After four seasons of playing the ever-brooding bad boy from Chino, Ryan Atwood, McKenzie continued his TV and film career over the years. His film credits include 88 Minutes, Goodbye World, and Some Kind of Beautiful. However, McKenzie found the most success returning to television. He landed a lead role as Ben Sherman in the crime drama Southland in 2009.

His biggest role to date has been as Captain James "Jim" Gordon on the Fox series Gotham. He married costar Morena Baccarin in 2017, and the couple has one child together.

  • Lovable nerd and socially awkward Seth Cohan made Adam Brody a household name. After the series conclusion in 2007, Brody set his sights on a full-time film career. Brody has starred in Death in Love, Jennifer’s Body, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and Lovelace. He also plays Special Agent Clay Allen in 2017 comedy CHiPs.

Brody was even added to the cast of the DC Comic film Shazam

  • Marissa Cooper was the girl-next-door Atwood wanted for so many years on the series. However, Barton's character was written off in the Season 3 finale "The Graduates." Barton's name remained in the headlines long after the show's end due to several personal issues made public - she made headlines for her fluctuating body weight and reportedly faced struggles with alcoholism.

Barton pleaded no contest to DUI charges in 2007. Two years later, she was committed to a psych ward after threatening self-harm. Despite her personal struggles, she has maintained steady work since leaving the series. Her acting credits include You and I, Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, Starcrossed, Painkillers, and Ouija House. She also appeared as a contestant on Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars
