Zombies

The Walking Dead&nbsp;has been around for a while now, which means the show&#39;s many characters have had the opportunity to make some absolutely idiotic decisions over the years. When you think about it, there is no way this group of survivors could actually survive given the choices they have made. However, they continue to eek out an existence in spite of numerous <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/alpha-best-villain-the-walking-dead/jonathan-kantor" target="_blank">villains</a>, the threat of zombies literally taking a bite out of them, and their penchant for making some of the worst decisions in the history of horror fiction.

To be fair, it&#39;s easy to sit on the couch and judge the actions of a group of people trying to survive the apocalypse, but many of the decisions the key characters have made on the series don&#39;t make a lot of sense. Arguably, some were made in the heat of the moment and were simply bad choices, but others qualify as the biggest bonehead moves in all of television.

Walking Dead fans spend about 60% of their time discussing who will die before just about every episode. Watching the AMC show causes anxiety for this very reason alone. Who&rsquo;s actually going to make it to the end or very close to the end of The Walking Dead? Even though the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/how-does-twd-comic-end/stephanroget" target="_blank">TWD comic ended in July 2019</a>, the show and its source material have diverged enough that no one is truly safe.

Daryl Dixon doesn&rsquo;t even exist in the comic books but he&rsquo;s got fans so crazed, they border on the obsessive. Norman Reedus has vowed to strike the first match if they kill off Daryl so he might just make it through the apocalypse. A popular saying among Dead fans: &ldquo;If they kill Daryl, we riot.&rdquo; It helps that as a character, Daryl has the skills and the luck to make it through psychopathic overlords, cannibals, bloodthirsty gangs, and even the dreaded yuppies behind Alexandria&rsquo;s walls.

If you were placing bets during season one, there&rsquo;s no way you&rsquo;d expect the mousy, domestically-abused Carol to live through an episode, much less outlive Glenn and Abraham. Even Carl has grown from being an overly-protected little boy to a stone-cold calculating killer.&nbsp;Will The Walking Dead&rsquo;s producers kill off the boy who has lived through so much - even having to kill his own mother?

Ah, it&rsquo;s time for Walking Dead character comparisons, one of those ongoing pastimes of fans far and wide. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is the man caught between two worlds: his original <a href="http://www.ranker.com/tags/comic-books?ref=internalCrossLinking_tag">comic books</a> series and his roles&nbsp;as&nbsp;executive producer and writer on the TV series.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kirkman gave the world a collection of rich characters in the bleak and exciting back drop of a zombie apocalypse. In the comics, Kirkman is judge, jury, and executioner along with Charlie Adlard, Tony Moore, and Cliff Rathburn.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
&nbsp; 
For the TV series, Kirkman must work with showrunner Scott Gimple and a cadre of writers. Since the TV series started with Frank Darabont before the hand off to Gimple and Kirkman, the characters have gone through various transformations, dipping away from or melding with other characters in the comics. In the case of the Dixon brothers, they didn&rsquo;t exist in the pages of Kirkman&rsquo;s comics and were created by Frank Darabont, Charles Eglee, and Jack LoGiudice.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Walking Dead character appearance is not just about resembling the comics, but finding actors who can handle the action, story content, heat, bugs, and grueling hours that the series requires of its cast. For example, comic book Rick and TV series Rick vibe the same but look different. However, Andrew Lincoln has proven that he IS Rick by now, although he&#39;s gotten to keep his hand... so far. But Coral sure got his eye shot out just like in the comic series. Ouch, buddy.&nbsp;

The Walking Dead casting directors, Sharon Bialy and Sherry Thomas (along with Gohar Gazazyan), have done a wonderful job keeping pace with the screen counterparts, added characters, character amalgams, and other alterations. It can&rsquo;t be an easy job, but when comic fans saw Michonne emerge from the darkness, there were genuine chills.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Going out via a walker is not a pretty sight, especially for <a href="https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/favorite-character-on-the-walking-dead" target="_blank">the show&#39;s characters</a>. Way before the rotating door walker took out Noah, poor Otis was struck down in the leg by Shane and left for walkers to dine upon in the moonlight. Aiden learned that being arrogant and stupid makes you just the right entr&eacute;e on a walker buffet. And Betsy&#39;s husband, David, went out just like he expected. Too bad she didn&#39;t get his note.&nbsp;

There are also the animals of TWD&nbsp;who end up on the wrong side of walker chompers.&nbsp;They, too, can be counted among the worst deaths from the series. The unnamed&nbsp;farm horse that rode into Atlanta with Rick? Totally didn&#39;t deserve to perish, although he did offer a good distraction while Rick hid in a tank. Buttons? He could have been Daryl&#39;s pal. They could have run in the fields together and had motorcycle vs. horse races. But no, <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-the-walking-dead-episodes/reference" target="_blank">hangry walkers</a> had to get him. And Tabitha. Poor sweet cheese-providing goat, walker-alarm Tabitha. She did not deserve to go out that way.

AMC&#39;s&nbsp;The Walking Dead&nbsp;(TWD) television series has been going strong with nine seasons and more than 130 episodes under its belt. The television adaptation may still be going strong on AMC, but the world already knows how The Walking Dead comic book ends after the long-running series wrapped in 2019. TWD&nbsp;creator Robert Kirkman always claimed his comic&nbsp;book series was destined to run at least 300 issues, and up until TWD&nbsp;#193 that seemed likely to be the case. Then, in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.skybound.com/comics/the-walking-dead/read-robert-kirkmans-letter-to-fans-from-the-walking-dead-issue-193" target="_blank">heartfelt letter</a> that closes out the issue, Kirkman confirmed&nbsp;it would be the series&rsquo; last. The dead aren’t the only ones who have to eat in a zombie apocalypse and brains certainly aren’t the only disgusting entrees on the menu. You might not have initially noticed all of the gross things the survivors ate on The Walking Dead in the beginning, but as food became scarcer, the desperation of the living became that much more apparent. As the series progresses, you can tell a whole lot about a survivor by what is (and sometimes isn’t) on their plate.Here we see how the meal, the way it’s procured, the way it’s prepared and even the dish it's in&nbsp;makes a major statement in a survival situation. Some of these meals were even more symbolic than they first appeared; some of them were even more disgusting once revisited. In the Walking Dead universe, a plate can literally make, break, or take your humanity, yet even the least vicious characters have gulped down entrees that look like they were delivered straight from a Fear Factor competition.Walking Dead food ranges from rodent to rabid to human. It’s sometimes even&nbsp;infested with who knows what kind of creatures. It’s often eaten raw. Walking Dead survivors swallow it down like the harsh reality they’ve recently been handed. Sometimes they chase it with a swig of Moonshine. Other times they simply take it to the head. Those who lose hope in their futures seem to lose hope in their diets, gobbling down whatever they can scavenge and forcing it through their pipes along with their pride. Those with the heart to fight for what they believe in are therefore sometimes left with an empty plate.Be that as it may, here are the most disgusting things eaten on The Walking Dead so far. Hollywood doesn't often allow a middle-aged woman to play the hero – especially during a zombie apocalypse. Usually they're whining about blisters and menopause in brutal worlds dreamed up in the horror fantasies of professional fanboys. Melissa McBride's Carol Peletier on The Walking Dead is the exception. One of the most dynamic characters on TV, Carol transitioned from soft, grieving mom (who surely complained about blisters at some point) to a stealthy and lethal assassin of both human aggressors and hordes of undead.&nbsp;Season 6 episodes expose the character as a skilled actress who molds her performance to the moment and her audience. When the residents of Alexandria needed to be soothed, she became den mother, passing out cookies. When Saviors Paula, Molly, and Chelle kidnapped her and Maggie in &quot;The Same Boat,&quot; she became pious and &quot;pathetic.&quot; But as the Wolves and the Saviors discovered, Carol now takes no sh*t from anyone. And fans love that about her.&nbsp;She left a goodbye note in the episode &quot;Twice as Far,&quot; but is she gone for good? Who can say. (If you're looking for answers, the Carol of the comic series has a vastly different life, so you won't find any there.)&nbsp;For the time being, let's review some of the top badass Carol moments from The Walking Dead&nbsp;and be sure to upvote those you think are most deserving.

Glenn is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Steven Yeun in the AMC television series of the same name. He is also voiced by Nick Herman in the video game of the same name, by Telltale Games. In the comics, he was known simply as Glenn and was not given a last name. Glenn was Maggie's boyfriend-turned-husband, and takes the role of surrogate father to Sophia following the suicide of Carol, her biological mother.
In the television series, he mentioned that his parents were Korean immigrants who lived in Michigan. Like the comics he is first seen saving the life of series protagonist Rick Grimes and he, and his group, bring them back to the Atlanta camp where he becomes the group's leader. Eventually when seeking shelter at the Greene farm he forms a crush on resident Maggie Greene, who forms a sexual relationship with him when she learns this, but she quickly realizes that she's fallen in love with him which makes him emotionally conflicted but eventually comes to terms with it.

Rosita Espinosa is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Christian Serratos in the American television series of the same name. She accompanies Eugene Porter and Abraham Ford on a mission to Washington, D.C. In the comic book series, she joins Rick Grimes' group after they leave Hershel Greene's farm and go to DC. In the television series, Rosita meets Tara Chambler and Glenn Rhee out on the road while with Abraham and Eugene on their way to Washington DC and soon joins Glenn's group, lead by Rick Grimes, after escaping Terminus, a false safe haven. Rosita continued Abraham's mission to get Eugene to DC. with Tara, Glenn and his wife Maggie Greene but when Eugene revealed he lied, they rejoin Rick's group once more.

Maggie Greene is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead, portrayed by Lauren Cohan in the television series of the same name. She is Hershel Greene's daughter and Glenn's wife.
In both mediums, Maggie and Glenn form a relationship and eventually become a married couple. In the comic book series, Maggie, Hershel's second daughter of seven children, becomes the surrogate mother to Sophia Peletier following the suicide of the girl's biological mother. Maggie initially has insecurities about herself and appears physically and emotionally weak. However, as time passes, Maggie hardens and becomes severely independent. She leaves the Alexandria Safe Zone and relocates to the Hilltop Colony. Later, she becomes heavily involved with the war against the Saviours. Maggie stands up and encourages the people to follow Rick Grimes instead of Gregory and Negan. In result, she successfully overthrows Gregory and becomes the de facto leader of the Hilltop Colony. After the war, Maggie has a son named after her father, Hershel. She remains fiercely protective of her children, as well as Carl Grimes while remaining at odds with previous leader, Gregory.

Sasha is a fictional character from The Walking Dead, an AMC television horror drama series. The character was created by Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead comic book series which the show is based on and in which Sasha has no counterpart. Sasha, a former firefighter before the apocalypse, is among a large group of survivors from Jacksonville, Florida, led by her older brother, Tyreese. In Atlanta, Georgia, the group comprises five people when they encounter Rick Grimes and his group of survivors. After living in Woodbury, she returns to the prison with the other newcomers, becoming a council member on behalf of the community. Following the destruction of the prison, she forms a romantic relationship with fellow survivor, Bob Stookey and later becomes a pivotal member to Rick's surviving group. She acts as the primary sharpshooter at the Alexandria Safe Zone on the bell tower.
Over the course of the series, the character gradually becomes a colder, more hardened individual, especially with the deaths of her loved ones. Sasha has been described as a realist who demonstrates a pragmatic approach to survival.

Daryl Dixon

Daryl Dixon is a fictional character from the horror drama television series The Walking Dead, which airs on AMC in the United States and is based on the comic book series of the same name. He was created by writers Frank Darabont, Charles H. Eglee and Jack LoGiudice specifically for Norman Reedus after they liked his audition so much for Merle Dixon that they created an additional character for him. The character was introduced in the first season as a Southern expert tracker who constantly lives in the shadow of his older brother, Merle. Despite his ill temper and volatility, he is tolerated by the core group of survivors due to his skills in hunting animals and fearless efficiency in killing zombies.
After Merle's disappearance, Daryl begins to shed his aloof personality and starts to bond with the group, particularly Carol Peletier after her daughter's disappearance, and Beth Greene after the two are split off together in Season 4. The character eventually becomes the cooperative right-hand man and protector of protagonist Rick Grimes and leads several supply runs.

In the comic book series, Carl begins as a normal and innocent child, but, as the events of the new world order force him to grow up, he becomes colder and competently makes sometimes brash decisions for the good of his group of friends. The character's development is similar in the television series, where he is a normal boy before adapting a callous and cold personality to survive. This behavior puts him into conflict with his father, who desires to maintain Carl's morality and innocence.

Rick Grimes is a fictional character in the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Andrew Lincoln in the television series of the same name. Created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, the character made his debut in The Walking Dead #1 in 2003. The primary protagonist of both series, Rick Grimes is a small town sheriff's deputy who shares a son, Carl Grimes, with wife Lori Grimes. He awakens from a coma to find the world overrun with zombies, and a fight for survival ensues.
In the comic book series, Rick remains the longest-living survivor, followed closely behind by his son, Andrea, Carol's daughter, and Sophia's surrogate mother. In both mediums, Rick awakens from a coma into the apocalypse and searches for Lori and Carl and finds them in the Atlanta camp with his best friend, Shane, and becomes the group's leader. Although Rick quickly adapts to the notion of killing walkers, he retains his morality, which puts him at odds with Shane, whose own morality has diminished. Shane has turned into a survivalist, and his infatuation with Lori, spurred on by an affair with her in Rick's absence, makes him jealous of Rick.

Carol Peletier

Carol Peletier, or simply Carol, is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Melissa McBride in the American television series of the same name. Carol is introduced in the comics in the third issue of the first volume, "Days Gone Bye", in 2003, and the third episode of the first season of the television series in 2010, as a meek housewife and mother of Sophia at the survival camp in Atlanta, Georgia. Initially a recurring cast member, McBride was upgraded to a series regular position at the onset of the second season, and the character's role has predominantly increased since the fourth season. The character's arc has been described as a "hero's journey" by executive producer Scott M. Gimple, having made many difficult decisions in order to survive.
The direction of her character is contrasted between the two mediums. In the comic series, Carol exhibits a neurotic, self-centered, and naive demeanor. Throughout her time in the comics, she grows increasingly unstable, to the extent of self-destruction.

Michonne

Michonne is a fictional character from the comic book series The Walking Dead and is portrayed by Danai Gurira in the television series of the same name. Armed with a katana and harboring a mysterious past, Michonne is introduced clothed under a hood and pulling the shackles of two reanimated corpses for protection and camouflage, which are soon revealed to be her deceased boyfriend and his best friend. In both mediums, she has a prominent role in the conflict between Woodbury and the Prison. In the comic book series, Michonne is introduced while saving the life of Otis. She is later accepted into the prison and forms a relationship with Tyreese until his death and later with Morgan, until he is killed as well. Later in the series, Michonne becomes more involved with the other survivors and eventually settles down with Ezekiel at The Kingdom, a safe haven in Washington, DC.
In the television series, Michonne saves the life of Andrea and the two spend eight months on the road together. They stumble upon the town of Woodbury, and Michonne is instantly suspicious of the town and The Governor.
