We all know the stories of The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, On Stranger Tides, and Dead Men Tell No Tales - but what do all these films have in common? Well, honestly, a whole lot more than just being the first five Pirates of the Caribbean movies (and, yes, we say first five, because it's only a matter of time before 6, 7, and 8 make their way to the big screen).
What might these next films have in store? Chances are, there will (likely) be a nonsensical backstory, Captain Jack Sparrow will narrowly escape from a series of self-imposed calamities, and someone is probably going to be slapped. Maybe even a few people.
This isn't the obvious stuff. Everybody sitting down with a bucket of greasy popcorn for one of these oceanic adventures knows Captain Jack Sparrow is going to prance around at least half drunk. These are little tropes that go beyond the expected antics from Johnny Depp.
But what else do these films have in common? A whole lot more than the casual Pirates fan would care to admit.
Spare yourself a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon by mainlining this quick video, which packs about twelve hours of Jack Sparrow into one tiny ship.
