The Hashira, also known as the Pillars, are among the strongest and most elite members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Each member uses a unique style of breathing moves that let them use titles like the Flame Hashira, the Water Hashira, and so on. They're some of the most interesting characters in Demon Slayer. If you're a fan, you might want to know more about them. With that in mind, here is some little-known Demon Slayer trivia centered around the Hashira themselves.
If you like voice actor trivia, it might interest you to know that Obanai's voice actor is married to Tamayo's voice actress. Here's another odd connection: Did you know that Sanemi is the same height and weight as Muzan Kibutsuji?
It's mentioned elsewhere that Rengoku's hair color is a result of his ancestor's love for tempura. That's a possibility, but there also might be another explanation - a long-standing tradition in the Rengoku family.
When one of the women in the family is pregnant with a son, she will spend two hours staring at a flaming torch every seven days. This is said to be why the male members of the family have flame-colored hair, and may also explain their propensity for learning Fire Breathing techniques.
Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito may not look particularly strong, but he accomplished something that no other Hashira has ever done - he took down an Upper Rank Twelve Kizuki with no help whatsoever.
But it's not surprising that he's powerful - he's one of two people who became a Hashira just two short months after starting to use a sword. The only other person to achieve this is Gyomei Himejima.
In order to distinguish themselves from other Demon Slayers, the Hashira use a variety of symbols. Each of them have the words Akki Messatsu (悪あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ) engraved on their weapons. This means "Destroy Demons."
Also, each of them has a symbol on the back of their hand that represents the Breathing Style they use.
After fighting Muzan Kibutsuji, Giyu fell into a coma. Though Nezuko's priority was her brother Tanjiro, who was also in a coma, she repeatedly visited Giyu, as well. Her purpose was to give him his haori, which she mended after it was ruined during the fight.
Upon waking and learning what Nezuko did, Giyu was so moved that he sent her a stream of expensive gifts. According to Zenitsu, this made Giyu his rival for Nezuko's affections. Their relationship has certainly changed a lot since their clash at the beginning of the series!
Each Demon Slayer has a Kasugai crow that is dedicated to communicating with them about their missions. Because these birds are living beings, they have unique traits and varying relationships with their human partners. Let's take a look at how some of the Hashira relate to their birds.
Giyu's bird, Kanzaburo, is elderly and forgetful, often failing to deliver messages, which stresses Giyu out. Ginko, Muichiro's bird, is a flashy creature who is proud of her human charge. Tengen's crow, Nijimaru, is into fashion and loves wearing jewels and modeling for the other crows. Mitsuri's Urara is on the anxious side. She wears a clover-shaped crown that resembles the handguard of Mitsuri's sword.
