15 Things Casual Fans Don't Know About Yamato

April 15, 2021 480 votes 66 voters 3.2k views15 items

Yamato, also known as Tenzo and formerly known as Kinoe, is an Anbu member who takes over for Kakashi as the leader of Team 7 while he's out of commission. Known for both his hilariously scary facial expressions and his tragic past, he's a strange and fascinating character who is worth knowing more about. For that reason, we'll be looking at some things you didn't know about Yamato!

First of all - did you know that his name isn't really Yamato? He was originally an orphan with no known identity, so nobody knows what his true name actually is. Also, did you know that he became a chuunin when he was only six years old?

He Asked Naruto To Stop Calling Him 'Captain'

Yamato takes official rank and status pretty seriously. Naruto Uzumaki, not so much. That's why Naruto is more than happy to keep calling Yamato 'Captain' after he gets promoted to Hokage, and why Yamato politely requests that he stop.

Konoha Relies On Him Too Much

Just about any time buildings get destroyed in Konoha, it's Yamato's job to rebuild them using Wood Release. While he certainly doesn't mind pitching in, he often ends up feeling a bit overworked. This is usually presented as a running joke, but it's also sort of depressing if you take his backstory into account.

    He Wants To Fight Kakashi

If Yamaato could fight anyone in the world, he'd choose Kakashi Hatake, the other leader of Team 7 and the person he looked up to when they were both in Anbu. Whether or not he'd be able to win is another story. Yamato may be strong, but is he really a match for Kakashi?

He's Completed A Ton Of Missions

Considering how long he's been working as a shinobi, it's not surprising to learn that he has a ton of missions under his belt. But how many are there?

    He's completed a total of 996 missions: 80 D-rank, 176 C-rank, 400 B-rank, 305 A-rank, and 35 S-rank missions.  If that's not impressive, nothing is.
