Neville's time in Dumbledore's Army is chiefly responsible for his progression into the empowered mindset he carries in later years. Neville values his connection with the faction more than the others, and he's kept the magical coin as a memento.

While the rest of the characters have let go of their coins, Neville has kept his with him into adulthood. The Dumbledore's Army coin is now a treasured possession that reminds him of the courage he gained from his experiences.

The last lesson Harry teaches Dumbledore's Army members before Dolores Umbridge catches them is how to cast the Patronus Charm. In the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry's efforts prove to be worth the risk because he, Hermione, and Ron are rescued by the DA.

The trio, who have all been shaken by their many losses in the battle, are unable to cast a charm when Dementors attack but are rescued by Seamus Finnigan, Ernie MacMillan, and Luna Lovegood.

The three DA members cast corporeal Patronuses that drive the Dementors definitively away from the battle, which makes them responsible for Harry's eventual win over Voldemort.

Zacharias Smith Abandons The Group During The Battle Of Hogwarts

Zacharias Smith is hated by every member of Dumbledore's Army for his obnoxious attitude. He demonstrates his lack of loyalty to the group initially when he doesn't want to sign his name on the members' parchment, and the Battle of Hogwarts brings out his true nature.

Smith is completely reluctant to stay at the school and fight the Death Eaters even though he's of age and has more magical knowledge than many other combatants.

Smith abandons the group so fervently that he knocks away many first-year students so he can escape Hogwarts before everyone else. Smith's actions permanently shun him from Dumbledore's Army in the future.

Dumbledore's Army faces losses during the Battle of Hogwarts just like other factions and families, and three members lose their lives.

The first to fall is Lavender Brown, who is savaged by Fenrir Greyback and is beyond saving when she's found. Fred Weasley is the next to perish when an explosion caused by a Death Eater results in his instant demise. The final DA member to be eliminated is Colin Creevey, who sneaks into the school to fight because he is underage and is slain somewhere on the Hogwarts grounds.

Marietta Edgecombe Was Never Cured Of Her Curse

Hermione uses a mysterious curse on the parchment containing the names of Dumbledore's Army members that manifests when one of them betrays them. Marietta Edgecombe is the defector who sells the team out to Dolores Umbridge, which is when her face sprouts boils that spell out "SNEAK."

Marietta is left with a permanent reminder of her treachery because the curse was never removed. Apparently, not even Albus Dumbledore can figure out how to reverse the hex, and Hermione refuses to undo it.

In later years, Marietta is forced to use heavy makeup to mask the presence of her scars, but has limited success.

Colin and Dennis Creevey are overly enthusiastic brothers who idolize Harry's every move. Colin is above the minimum age of 13 to enter Hogsmeade in Order of the Phoenix but Dennis is still a year younger.

Somehow, Dennis finds a way into Hogsmeade anyway, which makes him the slickest student in Hogwarts history because he achieves a feat that not even the Marauders were able to accomplish. Dennis has no knowledge of secret passageways or the Marauder's Map, yet enters Hogsmeade to join Dumbledore's Army.
