Conflicts in the Harry Potter series range from the Battle of Hogwarts, to the Battle of the Seven Potters, to the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. While the films in the series show these in some shape or form, they are missing key details, from the reason Harry and his friends survived fighting Voldemort's forces, to the consequences suffered by the people who were harmed.
The source material in the books truly captures the gravity of these conflicts.

Fawkes Saves Albus Dumbledore's Life In His Battle Against Voldemort
Fawkes is capable of surviving the killing curse because phoenixes are functionally immortal. During the clash between Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic, Fawkes uses his ability to be resurrected.
When Dumbledore conjures a whip to bind Voldemort, the latter turns it into a massive and fiery snake. While Dumbledore is busy against the fire serpent, Voldemort sends the killing curse his way, which Fawkes intercepts.
Fawkes outright swallows the killing curse and bursts into flames - he returns in his baby form, alive once more. Fawkes's sacrifice allows Dumbledore to capitalize and trap Voldemort in an encasing made of water, which the Dark Lord escapes only by possessing Harry.

Harry Emulates Lily's Love Protection Spell Towards His Allies During The Battle Of Hogwarts

During the Battle of the Tower, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione survive primarily because each has consumed some of Harry's Felix Felicis potion.
Harry has a feeling something bad will happen when he's gone with Dumbledore to the cave and asks his friends to take the Felix Felicis - his hunch turns out to be right when the potion saves their lives.
Ginny notes that Death Eater Thorfinn Rowle threw curses everywhere he went, which would have struck her, Hermione, and Ron had they not consumed the Felix Felicis.

The Battle Of The Seven Potters Is The First Time Voldemort Publicly Uses His Ability To Fly
The movies make a bit of a mockery of the power of flight because just about every Death Eater can do so. In the books, only Voldemort is capable of flying - he later teaches Snape how to accomplish unsupported flight as well.
During the Battle of the Seven Potters, Voldemort personally pursues Harry and initially targets Mad-Eye Moody and Mundungus-as-Harry because he believes Harry will be accompanied by the most powerful wizard; he then turns his attention to Kingsley and Hermione-as-Harry until Voldemort is summoned to the real Harry.
Each character who comes across Voldemort is astounded to see him flying without any kind of support. Hagrid, Kingsley, and Harry, in particular, are left speechless and in terror when they see the Dark Lord in pursuit.
The Order of the Phoenix then relay this information to their members so they can be prepared for any encounter with Voldemort in the future.

Greyback's attack isn't as harmful to Bill as it could have been because there's no full moon that night; Bill takes on some wolfish characteristics, but doesn't become a werewolf.
