As Black Panther/T'Challa will be making his debut in Captain America: Civil War, he will also be getting the spotlight in his own solo film on November 13, 2017. Actor Chadwick Boseman is set to portray the King of Wakanda. This marks the first African superhero to get their own film since Blade's trilogy, which concluded over a decade ago.

Black Panther has been subtly hinted at before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Iron Man 2, when Tony is speaking with Nick Fury as a digital map with Wakanda prominently highlighted. Kevin Feige said the film will be about the "isolationist nation" of Wakanda meeting the rest of the world, which may go well and may not.

The Black Panther is the ceremonial title given to the chief of the advanced African nation of Wakanda. T'Challa was next in line after his father died to become Black Panther and king of Wakanda, but since he was just a young boy, he wasn't ready to take to the throne. It wasn't until he was older that he defeated various champions of the Wakandan tribes to prove his worthiness.

As king, T'Challa has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, advanced technology, and leads what is described as one of the most powerful militaries on Earth. So, he's probably the one person you don't want to cross paths with.
