Artist Eisen Bernardo has managed to capture one of the largest, most pervasive realities in the United States with something as small as a paper clip. In fact, the Vietnam-based Filipino uses paper clips of varying amounts and colors to capture how mental illness affects those who live with it. In his project, which he titled #keepittogether, Bernardo calls attention to the fact that many people are dealing with internal struggles that can easily be overlooked, ignored, or misunderstood.

As the artist has realized it, a large portion of the younger population has been affected with various mental illnesses. And their suffering is made all the more painful because so few people truly understand its ramifications. Hollywood movies catastrophically misrepresent mental ailments and Eisen Bernardo is attempting to rectify the situation.
