Unlike other ghosts in the movie, Beetlejuice has a lot of restrictions placed upon him. He can't leave the graveyard unless his name is called three times; and to leave permanently requires marriage. All of these would make sense if he was geased to a particular area - specifically, his "area of manifestation" (and protected by the sandworms) is graveyards -- because, ironically, ghosts are unlikely to haunt there, and the living are unlikely to reside there. It is the fact that the Maitland's model has a graveyard in it that allows him to technically bypass his normal restrictions and invade the Maitland's abode. Finally, look at what Beetlejuice wears - black and white stripes... which is exactly like an old-time prison uniform.

Jack And Oogie Boogie Are At Odds Because He's Too Evil
TL;DR - The Bogeyman was too evil. Halloween town fits Halloween as a holiday: kid in costumes, candy, parties, trick or treating, maybe scary movies.The Bogeyman wants horror. He wants to strike fear, real fear, into the hearts of everyone, and that's not something Jack will ever be okay with.
Oogie Boogie was the previous King; a scary and ruthless dictator, of sorts. Halloween Town, like the other holiday towns, only came about due to the presence of normal people--and when normal people first started doing the "All Hallow's Eve" thing, they didn't have a Jack O'Lantern as the symbol--it was all about ghosts, zombies, mummies, vampires, spirits, et cetera. "Things that go bump in the night"--where Oogie Boogie would represent that primal fear of a singular creature-being: "the Bogey Man." So, as humans evolved their understanding and traditions of "All Hallow's Eve" into "Hallowe'en" to finally "Halloween," I'd imagine that Oogie Boogie lost power over time--and with the "birth" of Jack, came a new rise to power. A nicer, kinder power--so while he was the "Face" of Halloween Town (like Santa is the "Face" of Christmas Town) the Mayor runs all the smaller matters of the town, so that they feel they have a voice. Meanwhile, since the primal fear of "Oogie" is still present in mankind, he still lives--but is banished from Halloween Town proper. Lock, Shock, and Barrel are the personification of "fear of trick or treaters," and were perverted by Oogie--thus giving him some small measure of power outside his banished domain.
When Willy Wonka announces his golden ticket giveaway, there is a mad rush for his chocolate bars and in the first week 4 of the 5 tickets are found. The 5th ticket remains unfound and the search goes on for weeks. Between when the finding of the 4th and 5th ticket Mr. Bucket loses his job putting on toothpaste caps and can only find work shoveling snow. Charlie is described as slowly starving and becoming thinner and thinner due to the lack of food. Eventually he finds some money and uses it to buy the chocolate where he finds the ticket. He finds the ticket on Jan 31 and the tour happens the next day on February 1 just down the street from where he lives. I think that this was part of Willy Wonka’s plan. He wanted to contest to continue for as long as possible since once the 5th ticket was found the rush to buy his chocolate would die down. If the ticket had been found after the 4th ticket his sales would have dropped dramatically. If this ticket had been found anywhere but the town the factory was located in the winner would have had to travel to the town to attend the tour and that would have risked them missing the tour. So at the start of the contest Willy Wonka sent out 4 tickets to the UK, Europe and the US and withheld the last ticket until the last possible moment to continue the hype around the contest for as long as possible.

The Corpse Bride Emily Is Actually Victoria's Aunt
tl;dr: Emily is the maternal aunt of Victoria Everglot, the bethrothed / fiancé of Victor Van Dort. More specifically, Emily is - was? - the younger sister of Maudeline Everglot, Victoria's mother. This explains Emily's and Victoria's physical and personality similarities, with Victoria looking like Emily, because Emily was her mother's sister. It also explains how, in the film, the Everglots claim that Victoria is an "otter in disgrace" (a play on "utter disgrace"), because she looks like the "utter disgrace" Emily...who, of course, ran away with her family's jewels and fortune to elope with Lord Barkis, and "never returned."
The introductions in the song could be taken literally. I think that every fear is represented by a person in Halloween town, as Halloween is a holiday to celebrate our fears. The more universal, the older, and the more terrifying a fear is, the more prominent the person in the town is. The song introduces us to several of the larger fears. Presumably there are other fears in this town as well, less popular, less powerful. Perhaps fear of fish is here, or the fear of evenly-spaced organic holes (it's a real thing, look it up). Perhaps even the fear of unwanted responsibilities. Maybe Lock, Stock, and Barrel are the fear of unwanted children. And of course, being children, they are the most likely to work for Oogie, as children are more ready to accept unnamed fears, having not yet segmented and personified all they are afraid of.
TL;DR: Beetlejuice was a living man who entered the realm of the dead and became trapped by one of the dead people in authority, who dies by getting eaten by a sandworm.
Toward the end of the film, Beetlejuice is eaten by a sandworm. After this, he ends up in the death waiting room. How did he get there? The answer to this question demands that he were alive beforehand, because, as far as we can tell, there are only two ways you can end up in this room and/or building. The first way we may deduce from the people we see in it. It is clear that they are people who have only just recently died.
