Seth MacFarlane is clairvoyant! Well, not exactly, but there are several times Family Guy predicted the future. The writers over at The Simpsons may actually have a better telepathic track record, but Fox’s other long-time animated series is also quite impressive at predicting events that no mere mortal could have possibly foreseen. Don’t believe it, check out these seven crazy Family Guy predictions.
Granted, some of these Family Guy jokes that came true are more striking than others. There is a bit of a stretch to link Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death to a Family Guy episode that references former Vice President Cheney’s hunting accident. But Bruce Jenner’s sex change was foreshadowed by the show years before the athlete’s official announcement. Didn't see Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault charges coming? Little baby Stewie Griffin did way back in 2005.
It is rather remarkable to see how Family Guy predicted things. Of course, most of these are nothing more than pure coincidence. But that doesn't mean that we can’t be impressed.
The Show Somehow Saw Bruce Jenner's Sex Change Coming
Twenty years ago, would anyone have ever predicted that Bruce Jenner, an apparent model of male masculinity, an Olympic gold medal winner of the men's decathlon, would make a transition to female? Perhaps the folks at Family Guy saw this coming?
In one clip from 2009, baby Stewie says to Brian after the family dog tells him that Bruce Jenner is a man: "No, Brian. That’s what the press would have you believe, but he’s not. Bruce Jenner is a woman. An elegant, beautiful Dutch woman."
In yet another clip from a 2011 episode, Jenner sexily dances in front of an audience of screaming Navy men. Peter says to the crowd, clearly commenting on Jenner's feminine Burlesque moves: "Just wanted to remind you fellas what you're all fighting for."
In case you've been living under a rock. In 2015, Jenner announced that she would be making a transition from male to female. She now lives under the name Caitlyn Jenner.
Stewie Screamed About Being Trapped In Kevin Spacey's Basement
During a Season 4 Family Guy episode back in 2005, there is a scene in which baby Stewie is seen running naked through a shopping mall. He is terrified; he screams, "Help! I've escaped from Kevin Spacey's basement."
During the fall of 2017, actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making inappropriate sexual advances towards him in 1986, when he was just 14 years old. After Rapp came forward with his allegations, several additional men also made claims against the two time Academy Award-winning actor, including eight people who worked with Spacey on Netflix's House of Cards.
Some Details Of The Episode "Turban Cowboy" Foreshadow The Boston Marathon Bombings
During a Family Guy episode that aired on March 17, 2013, called "Turban Cowboy," Peter Griffin converts to Islam. It's only later in the episode the dim Peter realizes that he's joined a terrorist sleeper cell of Muslims. Peter makes a call on his cellphone and accidentally triggers two separate bombs. Griffin also wins the Boston Marathon after hitting and killing several runners with his car.
It should be noted that Family Guy does take place in the New England area. However, just one month after "Turban Cowboy" aired, the bombings at the Boston Marathon occurred, where two bombs were set off, killing three and injuring many more. One of the men responsible reportedly ran his brother over with his car while they were fleeing the scene of their crime.
Fox opted to remove the episode from Hulu and their internet site. They also stated that they would not air "Turban Cowboy" in future reruns.
The Show Links Dick Cheney's Hunting Accident To Antonin Scalia's Death
On February 11, 2006, Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot Harry Whittington while the friends were out hunting quail. During an episode called "Meet the Quagmires," which aired on May 7, 2007, Family Guy referenced Dick Cheney's hunting accident.
In the episode, Death told Peter that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had been fatally shot by Dick Cheney in a hunting accident while they out hunting quail. Almost one decade later, on February 13, 2016, Justice Scalia died at the age of 79 from natural causes. He was found in his hotel room. The prior afternoon, he went quail hunting.
