When reflecting back on some of the more memorable scenes from The Office, chances are they include Michael Scott. As one of the most pivotal, plot-driving characters, Michael Scott (also known as Detective Michael Scarn) is single-handedly responsible for many of the most uncomfortable, hilarious, and - at times - heartwarming moments from the show's nine seasons. Though the last two seasons of the show had to press on without the comedic force that is Steve Carell, fans of The Office will likely agree that Michael Scott left his mark on the Dunder Mifflin-Scranton community, one Dundie at a time.
Perhaps some of the funniest moments, though, are those when Michael Scott unexpectedly blurts out some obscenity to the shock of the office staff (and those of us snooping on them through our screens). We've gathered together every time that Michael Scott got caught up in the moment and required some additional censoring as a result.
Season 1, episode 2: "Diversity Day"
After Michael gets in trouble for performing an offensive reenactment of a Chris Rock comedy routine, corporate decides to send a diversity training coach to the Scranton branch for some sensitivity training. The coach invites the staff to help reenact the situation in an effort to reach "a more positive outcome"; however, during the reenactment of the reenactment, Michael has a hard time listening to Kevin's interpretation of the comedy routine and inturrupts with a problematic, explitive-ridden performance of his own.see more on Diversity Day
Season 3, episode 1: "Gay Witch Hunt"
After Michael learns that Oscar is gay, he appologizes to Oscar for homophobic remarks he had made, with many people in the office overhearing the apology. Michael also shares this information with Dwight and together they attempt to discern whether anyone else in the office might be gay.
Coprorate quickly learns that Michael outted Oscar and sends Jan to Scranton to confront him. When Jan expresses her shock at Michael's being so "obtuse about sexual orientation," he defends himself by saying that he watches The L Word and Queer as Folk, misremembering the name of the latter in the process.see more on Gay Witch Hunt
Season 3, episode 10: "A Benihana Christmas"
When the office hosts a Christmas toy drive, Michael decides to donate his used bicycle in an effort to show how giving he is. As soon as he gets the bicycle off of the elevator, he decides to give it one last ride into the office while singing "Deck The Halls," running into a doorway and uttering an explitive, narrowly missing a potted plant in the process.see more on A Benihana Christmas
Season 3, episode 15: "Phyllis's Wedding"
When Phyllis and Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration decide to get married, Phyllis tells Michael that he can be in the wedding in a secret effort to get extra time off for her honeymoon. Michael is then given the honor of pushing Phyllis's father's wheelchair down the aisle; however, to Michael's dismay, Phyllis's dad stands up halfway down the aisle and walks her, on his own, the rest of the way. Michael very obviously feels cheated out of his moment in the spotlight at Phyllis's side and very expressedly tells the camera how he's feeling.
