List Rules Compare the Golden Globe winner to the Oscar winner of the same year - upvote the movies and people who you think were better than their Oscar-winning counterparts

The Golden Globes and the Academy Awards are two of the highest honors any production or people working in showbiz can win. Since these award shows consider the same bodies of work every year, comparisons between them are inevitable. For one, people really care about winning Oscars and the Golden Globes are often dismissed as their quirky, boozy stepchild. But if you go back and look at their histories, you'll see that there are actually a lot of examples of times the Golden Globes "got it right" when the Oscars picked movies and people that seem less deserving.

The Hollywood Foreign Press votes for winners of the Golden Globes, while The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences votes for the winners of the Oscars. Oftentimes these organizations agree with one another, meaning that the Golden Globes end up predicting who will likely win an Oscar. But sometimes the opinions of these organizations don’t totally match up. For film buffs, that's where the fun comes in: we all get to decide which award show got it right and which one missed the mark.

Here's a list of potential examples when the Golden Globes crowned the right winner and the  Academy Awards didn’t. Each entry provides the year, category, the Golden Globe winner, as well as the Oscar winner. Check out the list and vote up the films or actors you believe should have won an Oscar in addition to their Golden Globe.
