List Rules Compare the Oscar winner to the Golden Globe winner of the same year - vote up the movies and people who you think were better than their Golden Globe-winning counterparts.

The Golden Globes and the Academy Awards are two of the highest honors any production or people working in showbiz can win. Sometimes, an actor, actress, or film, deservingly wins across the board. But in the Oscars vs Golden Globes debate there are a lot of examples of times the Oscars got it right when the Golden Globes picked movies and people that were not quite so deserving. Some of these Oscars Golden Globes differences are glaring, when given time to absorb the films in question and the performances that went up against one another.

The Hollywood Foreign Press votes for winners of the Golden Globes, while The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences votes for the winners of the Oscars. Oftentimes these organizations agree with one another, meaning that the Golden Globes end up predicting who will likely win an Oscar. But sometimes the opinions of these organizations don’t totally match up. For film buffs, that's where the fun comes in: we all get to decide which award show got it right and which one missed the mark.

Here's a list of examples of when the Academy Awards crowned the right winner and the Hollywood Foreign Press didn’t. Each entry provides the year, category, and both the Golden Globe and Oscar winners, for comparison. Check out the list, vote up the time Oscars chose different than Golden Globes (and were correct), and see who was most deserving of Hollywood's highest honors.
