From ancient Japan to today, ninjas have always been awesome! They were super popular when I was a kid in the 80's so I've played a lot of games about ninjas. These are the ten best!
This is possibly the best game ever made for the Game Boy Advance. Certainly the best Ninja themed one. With the grappling hook, sword, shuriken and power-ups this game gives you a lot of options for taking out the badguys. The controls are fairly intuitive and easy to use. Your hero is able to do quite a bit for a GBA game including swinging from his hook, jumping both straight up and at an angle, crouching, crawling, grabbing ledges, swinging his sword, throwing ninja stars, unlocking doors etc. It features 80's and 90's game standbys like finding keys to unlock doors and rescuing hostages. The hostage rescues are the highlight of the game for me because they offer the tough challenge of killing the badguy without hurting the hostage. The game does a good job of blending realistic martial arts and police crime-fighting action with some supernatural elements to spice it up a bit. I'd love to see an HD remake of this game for the Nintendo 3DS. see more on Ninja Cop
Ninja Gaiden has always been one of the toughest games from the early NES games to the Xbox games. This is the best of them all. see more on Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos
From the breakthrough comic book that made fun of a lot of the tropes of comics, yet (like the Monkees and Spinal Tap of music) wound up becoming a big hit themselves to the great TV cartoon to his series of video games, the Turtles are great ninjas for video games. Their four different colored costumes, different weapons and different tactics made them perfect for side-scrolling fighting games like this.
