A lot of people die in anime. Like, a lot. And many of those times, it’s a beloved character, or at least a character of some import. Usually, the creators do justice to these characters, which results in some of the most satisfying deaths in anime. However, there are still a lot of lame deaths in anime. Sure, half of them are from Another, which is basically an animated Final Destination, but don't worry - there’s only one example from that show on this list.
But Another isn’t the sole culprit in producing unsatisfying anime deaths. Sometimes, the animators just miss the mark. Most people would agree that there are few things more infuriating than an anti-climactic death. It’s okay for characters to die, but it better damn well serve a purpose. Compiled here are bad anime deaths that didn’t do the character justice in any way. Vote up the most disappointing and terribly lame deaths in anime.
Lubbock's ultimate fight with Syura starts off pretty great. The problem is, right as Lubbock kills Syura, Syura uses the shambhala to teleport them both really high up in the sky. So, Syura's dead body starts coming back down, and Lubbock's very-much-still-living body is also falling with it. The battle is won, yet suddenly fans have to watch Lubbock slowly descend to his death while dreaming of his love, Najenda. The worst part? He lands on some spikes. Uncool and unfair.
Tomoya Okazaki can't not cope with his wife's death, so he leaves his newborn daughter in the care of others while he drinks and smokes his worries away. Five years later, Tomoya comes around and faces his responsibility. The problem is, his daughter Ushio has the same illness that killed her mother. Despite Ushio's high fever, Tomoya takes her for a walk in the freakin' snow, and then she dies in his arms. YOU DO NOT TAKE SICK CHILDREN FOR WALKS IN THE SNOW, TOMOYA! Un-frickin'-believable!
Kamina is the unrivaled bad*ss of the heroes. When he leads his crew above ground to fight the alien beast-men, out of nowhere comes some lowly lieutenant in a mech suit who tears right through him! He basically gets ripped into two and dies - or at least he appears to. After a while, he just gets back up and starts fighting again. Oh, cool. Maybe, even though he's basically cut in half, he's alright! The heroes eventually win the battle and then Kamina really dies from his earlier wounds. Anyone else notice something seriously flawed here?
Okay, so fans know that he was eaten, but no one even saw how it happened until a flashback scene in Season 2. But even then, when he actually died, it happened off screen! And then fans find out he was left to die by his supposed friends. Bogus. Bogosity of the highest order! Marco was actually a good character who could have been fleshed out some more. But instead, he's given a mediocre death that feels quite empty.
