    Look For Red License Plates

    From Redditor u/truebeliever23:

If you're taking a cab, make sure it has a red license plate, and negotiate the fare before you get in. If you're not sure what a fair fare is, you can ask your bartender or staff at your hotel what they think is a fair price.

    Be Mindful Of Hustlers

    From Redditor u/travismacmillan:

Be careful. Jamaica is full of scammers and hustlers.

Don't get me wrong. It's also full of original character, and many friendly and welcoming people. The trouble is, the bad apples turn our country into shit.

Stressing that first-time visitors be on their defense and use guides and experienced visitors for advice and company while venturing out is solid advice.

    Thinking you're invincible, is ridiculous.

    Island Time Is Real

    From Redditor u/truebeliever23:

    Don't Accept "Gifts"

    From Redditor u/truebeliever23:

Don't let anyone hand you anything. A common trick is for someone to put a bracelet, trinket, or maybe something illicit in your hand, tell you it's free or "a gift" and then refuse to take it back and demand a tip or that you pay for it.

    Visit The Rose Hall

    From Redditor u/daniyellidaniyelli:

If you stay in Mobay I love Dr.'s Cave beach. Rose Hall is a historical place to visit. Although I remember more history being given when we visited as a child. The last time I went as an adult it was kind of cheesy with the "ghost" stuff.

Ocho Rios is fun to visit and to the club Dunns River Falls.

    Bring Bug Spray

    From Redditor u/truebeliever23:

Bring bug spray. Bugs aren't bad during the day but the sand fleas come out at night, so if you're hanging on the beach near a grassy area, your feet and legs will get eaten up. Depending on your hotel, you may get mosquitoes in your room too.
