When it comes to bad boys in anime you love to hate, Vegeta is the cream of the crop. He was THE villain of Dragon Ball Z. His initial match with Goku kicked off one of the greatest rivalries in anime history. It took every remaining fighters on Earth to bring him down, and even then, he had enough strength to fly away to fight another day. Even when he “joined forces” with the Z-Warriors to take down the unstoppable Frieza, he was still a ruthless fighter to the bitter end. There’s no denying that as Vegeta rebuilt his life on Earth with Bulma and his son Trunks, his heart softened throughout the show, but he never lost that awesome edge that made everyone love him since day one.

Whether you loved him as a barbaric villain or a wicked anti-hero, there’s no denying the prince of all Saiyans was behind the most brutal kills in Dragon Ball Z, as well as the most epic scenes in the series run. Just take a look at Vegeta’s most merciless beatdowns against the greatest villains in Dragon Ball Z. If you need more Vegeta love, take a look at his best quotes from the show.

    Namek Villagers

While many of Vegeta’s early kills during the Namek Saga were evil henchmen who had it coming, the slaughter of the Namekian villagers was a harsh reminder of his old bad self. Much like Freiza, Vegeta was searching for the Namekian Dragon Balls on their home planet and was willing to do anything to get them. Vegeta took out one Namek after another until he annihilated them all -- men and children -- with his huge energy blast. After destroying the Namekian villagers, he stole the giant Dragon Ball they were protecting with their life. Near the end of the Frieza Saga, Vegeta laughs at the villagers’ deaths, when the surviving Namekians realize the victims of his assault weren’t brought back to life by the Dragon Balls.

  • While Vegeta delivered the final blow to Burter, he wasn’t the one who brought the “Blue Hurricane” to his knees. That honor goes to Goku, who disabled the Ginyu Force warrior with two crippling blows to the back. Goku originally wanted to give Burter and the other defeated members of the Ginyu Force a chance to redeem themselves, but Vegeta scoffed at the idea of sparing their lives. Vegeta broke Burter’s neck with his knee; finishing him off for good.

  • Although Jeice was eager to kill Vegeta and the remaining Z-Warriors on Namek, he turned tail and ran after Goku arrived and took out most of the Ginyu Force. During Goku’s match with Captain Ginyu, the “Red Magma” finds himself in a fight with the proud prince of the Saiyans. Vegeta toys with Jeice throughout their match, until he ends it with his Genocide Breaker. Despite Jeice pleading for his life, Vegeta unleashes the attack aimed directly at Jeice’s face.

Cui, the cocky elite soldier of Frieza’s army, met his end by Vegeta in a death that can only be described as brutally delicious. Letting his arrogance get the best of him, Cui taunted Vegeta with his “superior” might during their confrontation on Namek. Unfortunately for Cui, he realized too little too late that Vegeta had vastly outclassed him in power, thanks to his near-death experience on Earth. When Vegeta punctured Cui’s stomach with his fist, the alien-fish soldier was then finished off by Vegeta’s signature Dirty Firework technique.
