The symbiote was giving Peter not only raw strength (apparently) but also "advice." Thats why Peter was sooo out of character. Just like in 2018's Venom where the symbiote was able to talk to Eddie and even control him to some extent, Raimiverse Venom has the same ability. So basically "thanks hot legs" and "now dig on this" were all whispered by Venom to Peter as "cool" one-liners that Peter would have never thaught of. Just to correct it: Venom "suggested" Peter all the out of character phrases.

The symbiote and vibranium share an oddly specific weakness - sound waves at a specific frequency are intolerable. This was a central plot detail during the climax of both Black Panther and Venom. Much tougher than a carbon-based lifeform. Much like Captain America's shield, bullets have very little effect on Venom. The symbiote also increases strength far beyond an animal of a comparable size. It's so metal. Certain symbiotes are able to create metallic appendages in the shape of axes or blades. A strong material like vibranium would be needed to make these weapons viable within that limited mass.

TL; DR: The movie is actually Eddie/Venom's modified version of what actually happened narrated to Anne to win her back. And kinda works too.

A few discrepancies in the movie, like 6-month time shifts in which interval Riot managed to survive the hosts without actual symbiosis can actually be explained by the fact that the entire movie is narrated by Eddie Brock/Venom. Who is the listener? Michelle Williams' character, Anne. In the final minutes, we're actually shown that Eddie lies to her that Venom died trying to save him. Extrapolating it, the entire story/explanation she receives is what we're shown as the movie itself.

Why is it important? Because it puts the entire movie in a new light. Venom [the symbiote] found a suitable host in Eddie Brock. To make sure that the host itself is satisfied, Venom is starting to help fulfill Eddie's desires while he gets the same courtesy back. And to do that, he[the symbiote] helps paint a picture of Venom being a good guy who does extreme things to help mitigate extremists like Carlton Drake. That Venom is someone to sympathize and care for [Emphasis on the fact that Venom himself says how he's just like Eddie and they are both losers]. The movie might be actually alluding to this fact, as sometimes things don't really add up.

• Example 1: Venom's known weakness is fire, but during the drone/motorcycle chase scene they actually pass through an explosion of the fire unharmed.
• Example 2: Venom's other know weakness is sound which should be generating a lot while the spaceship was being launched during the climactic battle. Yet, it hadn't affected both the symbiotes.
• Example 3: Venom's sudden change of motivation to actually help save the earth. Maybe he's embarrassed to admit the real reason?

And the thing is, it works out in the end. She admits that she misses Venom and that Eddie has turned out better with Venom's help. Thus when Venom makes an appearance again, she would be fine with it and would be willing to provide legal help if required.

Separation from a viable host is incredibly dangerous for a symbiote as it lacks independent survival systems of its own. Although, in times of emergency, it can use its own stores of non-differentiated cells to form collagen fibers and catapults to create ridged caticula for locomotion, this process is extremely taxing and requires more energy than it can spare. It must also keep itself moist, away from fire, and protected from alien microbes for which it has no defenses. Without a host, the symbiote will exhaust itself and die.

Peter B Parker is older and separated from Mary Jane, so it's safe to assume that at this point in his career he's already battled and defeated the symbiote Venom - but not before being infected and affected by it first.

When Miles is making Peter feel guilty and Peter yells into the sleeve of his coat, "No no no no do not let him win!" and the musical score darkens for a moment in anticipation of what he'll do next, I thought maybe that was a silent reference to Venom and nod to the fact that an older Peter Parker could possibly have minor residual mental health issues, and he might use talking to himself to cope with stressful situations or when he has to change his mind about something specifically because of his past time spent joined with a symbiote.
