As the Earth warms and its climate changes, previously frozen areas like Norway's Jotunheim mountains have begun to reveal their centuries-old secrets. Viking artifacts, well preserved and encased in centuries of ice, are now being excavated by archaeologists. The Lendbreen pass, in particular, has yielded such finds as woolen garments, knives, arrows, horseshoes, and even animal remains

To document this scientific process, the Glacier Archaeology Program in Oppland, Norway, created an Instagram, secretsoftheice, to share its many exciting Lendbreen pass finds.
