Sybill Trelawney Detected Voldemort's Soul in Harry

Sybill Trelawney once tried to predict Harry's birthday, saying he was born in mid-winter. Everyone laughed because Harry was born in July, so this served as evidence that she was a quack. Or was she?

According to Redditor /u/Sabatouer, Sybill was actually sensing Voldemort's soul inside of Harry. After all, Voldemort was really born in mid-December.

The Sorting Hat Wanted To Put Harry in Slytherin Because It Sensed Voldemort's Soul

This theory has floated around for a while, but it was brought up again by Redditor /u/Hebrewsuperman. The theory suggests that the reason the Sorting Hat thought Harry would do well in Slytherin is because it sensed Voldemort's spirit in him.

Luckily, Harry's goodness shined through, and he went into Gryffindor.

Harry Could Never Master Occlumency Against Voldemort

Harry is taught occlumency as a way to prevent Voldemort from penetrating his thoughts. However, Redditor /u/velmaspaghetti posits that Harry could never truly master this technique because his connection with Voldemort runs so much deeper.

As we learn later in the series, Harry is a horcrux. There is a part of Voldemort inside Harry Potter. Occlumency can't break this physical connection between them, so it's useless.

Voldemort Can't Use Legilimancy to Read Loving Thoughts

Many fans have wondered how Voldemort didn't know Severus Snape and Narcissa Malfoy were betraying him. Redditor /u/YourDailyDevil suggests that Voldemort can't read thoughts about love, and both Severus and Narcissa were acting out of love for Draco.

This would also explain why Severus is the perfect person to teach Harry occlumency. Voldemort would be unable to get through his thoughts at this time because he was acting out of love for Lily Potter.
