The Weasleys, Harry's de facto family members in the Harry Potter series, provide the young wizard with comfort and care - something he certainly doesn't get growing up with the Dursleys. With nine people in the immediate family, the Weasleys have an extensive history. Ron's timeline is largely known to fans due to his close association with Harry, so it's worth diving into the lives of his parents and siblings, and how their stories intertwine with Ron's.
The family's history begins with the birth of patriarch Arthur and extends to what we know of the newest group of Weasley kids, making this a timeline that spans three generations.
On February 6, 1950,Arthur Weasley is born to Septimus Weasley and Cedrella Black. He has at least two brothers. Arthur continues the Weasley tradition of having male children that has been going on for six generations (until Ginny comes along).
Arthur doesn't know know the maternal side of his family: Cedrella married into the "blood traitor" Weasley family, so she was disowned by the House of Black.
1961-1970: Arthur Attends Hogwarts, Where He And Molly Prewett Meet And Marry
On September 1, 1961,Arthur begins attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he is sorted into Gryffindor House. He meets Molly Prewett the same day and the two classmates begin a close bond.
In 1963, 13-year-old Arthur starts his third year at Hogwarts and chooses Muggle Studies as one of his electives. Despite being a pure-blood wizard, Arthur is fascinated with Muggles.
By the late 1960s,Arthur and Molly realize their feelings for each other and become a couple. Due to the strict rules of the school prohibiting them from spending time together in public, Arthur and Molly take a nighttime stroll in secret during their senior year. They are caught by caretaker Apollyon Pringle, who uses a cane on Arthur as punishment, which creates permanent scars.
In June 1968, Arthur and Molly graduate from Hogwarts at a time when Voldemort has started gaining power.
In late 1968, Arthur finds employment at the Ministry of Magic, where he is assigned to the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office due to his expertise in and fascination with Muggles.
In early 1970, the First Wizarding War officially begins, with Voldemort coming out in the open along with his followers. Unsure of the future, Arthur and Molly, both 20 years old, decide to elope, among many young couples to do so at the time.
In early 1970, Arthur and Molly Weasley find a little Tudor building on the outskirts of Ottery St Catchpole in Devon, England, and decide to make it their home.
On November 29, 1970, Molly gives birth to her and Arthur's first child, William Arthur Weasley, nicknamed Bill.
1971-1981: Arthur And Molly Grow Their Family During The First Wizarding War
On December 12, 1972,Molly gives birth to their second child, a son named Charles Weasley and referred to as Charlie.
During the mid-1970s, Arthur's work at the Ministry becomes extremely strenuous due to the increase in Muggle attacks by Voldemort's followers. His work involves finding cursed Muggle artifacts, so he has to work overtime because dangerous objects have proliferated as part of an attempt to eliminate Muggles. Arthur also has to deal with Muggles placed under the Imperius Curse.
On August 22, 1976, Molly gives birth to the couple's third child, a son named Percy Ignatius Weasley.
On April 1, 1978,Molly gives birth to twin sons, Fred and George. Fred is the fourth child of the Weasleys, while George is the fifth.
In mid-1979, Molly learns that she's pregnant again. With five sons already, she dearly craves a daughter for what she hopes will be her final pregnancy.
On March 1, 1980,Molly gives birth to her sixth child, a son named Ronald Bilius Weasley. The boy's middle name is in honor of his Uncle Bilius, who perished after witnessing a Grim.
In early-1981,Molly suffers through a family crisis while pregnant, when both of her brothers, Fabian and Gideon Prewett, are savagely eliminated by Voldemort's followers. Their passing hits her so hard that Molly becomes extremely protective of her remaining family and tends to be too smothering at times.
On August 11, 1981, Molly gives birth to a girl, Ginevra Molly Weasley, nicknamed Ginny. She is the first Weasley girl to be born in seven generations.
On November 1, 1981, the Weasleys learn of the downfall of Lord Voldemort when he fails to finish off baby Harry Potter. With this news, the Wizarding War comes to an end, and Molly and Arthur are relieved they can raise their children in a safe environment once more.
In late 1981, Molly finds a rat outside the Burrow that shows magical characteristics and decides to adopt it as a family pet, Scabbers.
1982-1986: The Older Weasley Children Attend Hogwarts While The Younger Ones Are Raised At Home
On September 1, 1982,Bill becomes the first Weasley child of the current generation to leave for Hogwarts, where he is sorted into Gryffindor House.
In March 1983, 3-year-old Ron breaks Fred's toy broomstick, causing the latter to use his magical powers in anger to turn Ron's teddy bear into a spider. This event causes Ron to permanently fear spiders, while Fred becomes interested in both troublemaking and inventing things.
On September 1, 1984, Charlie becomes the second Weasley child to attend Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor House.
In the mid-1980s, Bill corresponds with a pen pal in Brazil. Their friendship becomes so strong that Bill's friend suggests a student exchange program. Bill asks his father, but Arthur says the program is too expensive. Later that year, Bill's pen pal angrily sends him a cursed hat for rejecting his idea, ending their friendship.
In mid-1985, 7-year-olds Fred and George learn of the Unbreakable Vow and decide to try it. They convince 5-year-old Ron to participate after taking their father's wand. Just before they can complete the vow, Arthur catches them and punishes Fred for putting Ron's life in danger.
In September 1985, Bill takes all the electives at Hogwarts and manages to study 12 subjects, a feat accomplished until then only by former student Bartemius Crouch Jr. The same year, Charlie is selected as Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team and proves to be highly talented.
On September 1, 1986, Bill is made a prefect of Gryffindor house and begins his O.W.L. studies, aiming to be the second wizard in recent memory to achieve all 12 pass results. Charlie begins his third year and elects to study Care of Magical Creatures.
1987-1990: Fred And George Weasley Find The Marauder's Map And The Older Weasley Brothers Leave Home
In early 1987, Fred plays a prank on Ron by giving him an acid pop candy that burns a hole in his tongue, for which he is punished by Molly. Fred and George decide they want to open a joke shop when they are adults.
In August 1987,Bill successfully completes all 12 O.W.L. exams, passing each with distinction and tying Barty Crouch Jr.'s record.
In mid-1987, Ginny starts breaking into the family broom shed and taking the broomsticks that belong to her brothers. An avid fan of Quidditch, she teaches herself how to play the game in secret because her brothers don't let her play.
On September 1, 1987, Percy becomes the third Weasley child to attend Hogwarts, where he is sorted into Gryffindor. He is given Scabbers as his pet to keep at Hogwarts.
On September 1, 1988, Bill is appointed Head Boy at Hogwarts and begins his seventh and final year. Charlie begins his fifth year and is appointed prefect and captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
On December 25, 1988, Fred and George set off a Dungbomb under the chair of their Great-Aunt Muriel during a family Christmas dinner, which causes the elderly witch to become extremely offended and write the twins out of her will.
In June 1989, Bill graduates from Hogwarts, becoming the first Weasley child of the current generation to leave school.
In July 1989, Bill receives his N.E.W.T. exam results, which he passes with distinction. Charlie receives his O.W.L. results and chooses to continue with Care of Magical Creatures at N.E.W.T. level and pursue the subject as a career. The same month, he applies and is accepted into Gringotts bank as a curse-breaker. However, Gringotts stations him in Egypt to work at the pyramids to protect wizards who search for gold.
On September 1, 1989, Fred and George become the fourth and fifth children of the family to attend Hogwarts and are sorted into Gryffindor. Percy begins his third year and follows in Bill's footsteps by choosing all elective subjects to aim for 12 O.W.L. exams.

1991-1992: Arthur Is Reprimanded By The Ministry And Ginny Weasley Becomes A Target Of Voldemort
In June 1991, Charlie becomes the second Weasley child to graduate from Hogwarts. He is encouraged to play professional Quidditch due to his talent, but chooses his passion for studying magical creatures instead. He accepts a position at a dragon research center in Romania and leaves home to live abroad.
On September 1, 1991,Ron becomes the sixth child of the family to attend Hogwarts, where he is sorted into Gryffindor. He is given Scabbers to take with him. Percy begins his O.W.L. year and is appointed as prefect for Gryffindor. Ginny accompanies Molly to drop Ron off at the Hogwarts Express and sees Harry Potter, falling instantly in love with him.
In December 1991, Arthur, Molly, and Ginny visit Charlie in Romania while the other Weasley children spend Christmas at Hogwarts.
In June 1992, Arthur finds a Ford Anglia that he secretly turns into a magical flying car. He teaches his sons how to drive it, and they begin to take the car out by themselves.
In July 1992, Percy receives his O.W.L. results and emulates Bill in receiving all 12 O.W.L. pass results, gaining an Outstanding in each subject.
In August 1992, Arthur's proposed Muggle Protection Act is passed as a law by the Ministry, which reignites his rivalry with Lucius Malfoy, who secretly holds dark objects.
On August 3, 1992, George, Fred, and Ron decide to head over to Harry's house in Little Whinging at night to rescue him from the Dursleys. After arriving at the Burrow, Harry is invited to stay with the Weasleys until the end of the holidays.
On August 19, 1992,Arthur and Lucius Malfoy come to blows in Diagon Alley, and Lucius deposits Lord Voldemort's diary into Ginny's belongings, knowing this will open the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts.
On September 1, 1992, Ginny becomes the final Weasley child to attend Hogwarts, where she is sorted into Gryffindor. Harry and Ron take the Ford Anglia to drive/fly to Hogwarts after they are locked out of the train platform. Although the boys safely arrive at school, the Hogwarts staff discover the car and Arthur is reprimanded by the Ministry.
In September 1992, Ginny learns her diary is sentient and begins to share her deep secrets with it, including her feelings for Harry. Unbeknownst to her, Voldemort's soul resides in the book and he starts feeding on Ginny's own soul to possess her in sporadic moments.
On October 31, 1992, Voldemort takes full possession of Ginny to open the Chamber of Secrets and release the Basilisk within. After the petrification of Filch's cat, Ginny uses its blood to write a warning on the school's walls.
In December 1992, Molly and Arthur visit Bill in Egypt while the rest of the Weasley children spend Christmas at Hogwarts.
