It's not surprising that people have odd fears, but rarely do we reveal them to others. But when comedian Jim Smallman shared his weird fears on Twitter, everyone appreciated his strange concerns. In fact, scores of people followed Smallman's lead and shared some of their own peculiar worst nightmares. From eggs to lutes to belly buttons, you'll be surprised to learn that some of your irrational fears, though still irrational, aren't unique to you.
Open Closet Doors
Can't sleep with the closet door open. Logically, I know there's nothing in there. I also don't want to wake up at 3 am and see glowing eyeballs— Wendy (@WendyFNP) March 2, 2018
Open Doors At Bedtime
I have a fear of sleeping with my back to an open door, specifically one that goes to the hallway. I'm afraid that somebody, a goblin, or a ghost will sneak up behind me and murder me in my sleep.— Andrew Meckfessel (@ADMeckfessel) March 8, 2018
Mirrors, but only at night. Too many horror films where things appeared behind them when they were looking in the mirror.— Amanda Why (@manda_why) March 2, 2018
Also, moths can fuck off and take butterflies with them.
Women Playing Lutes

In the first house I remember living in, my parents had a painting of a woman playing the lute. I frequently had nightmares about that painting. I swear the eyes followed me.
