A good fighting game always has an intriguing roster of characters for players to master online or at local tournaments. The strangest fighting game characters are the ones that tend to spark heated debates amongst gamers. Some of these characters may be new additions that completely miss their mark, while others are special guest characters that do nothing but make people raise their eyebrows.
These are some of the weirdest fighting game characters to ever earn a spot on digital rosters. While they might not be everyone's main, they're certainly good for a playful round with friends.
Amingo - 'Marvel vs. Capcom 2'Photo: Capcom
Amingo was a 100% original character introduced to both the Capcom and Vs. universes in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. With a roster of established names from Marvel and Capcom, that was a big issue. At times, new characters have a hard time connecting with seasoned players.
While Ruby Heart and SonSon, who were also new characters, took off with fans, Amingo just felt a bit off. The man-sized cactus hasn't been seen as a fighter since the game's release.Confusing fighter?
Meat - 'Mortal Kombat 4'Photo: Midway Games
When it comes to Mortal Kombat, the character diversity is one of the best out there. With Mortal Kombat 4, developers introduced Meat, which didn't sit well with many people. The character was the result of one of Shang Tsung's experiments.
While Meat was simply a mimic character in Mortal Kombat 4, the Mortal Kombat: Armageddon version was a shocking change of pace. Meat was able to throw their head a la Decap Attack and use blood to rejuvenate themselves. Following Armageddon, Meat was relegated to cameo appearances in future Mortal Kombat games.Confusing fighter?
The Daytona Car - 'Fighters Megamix'Photo: Sega
Fighters Megamix brought together a slew of Sega characters for an intense fighting game. For some reason, though, developers wanted to get Daytona USA involved, so they added Hornet the Daytona Car. The car stands up and throws hands (or, in this case, wheels) like anyone else.
While this definitely looked funny, Hornet's moveset was actually pretty boring for the game, which made them easy to forget about.Confusing fighter?
Olcadan - 'SoulCalibur III'Photo: Namco
SoulCalibur has a slew of unique characters, but there's no one more polarizing than Olcadan. The character was an easy-going guy until he managed to slay a massive owl. This angered Ares, who transformed Olcadan's head into an owl's head.
Since he's a mimic character, the owl head is the only interesting thing about Olcadan. The character only appeared in SoulCalibur III.Confusing fighter?
