Topanga Lawrence dominated the Friday night airwaves of the '90s as the teenage heartthrob of ABC's famously heartwarming TV sitcom series, Boy Meets World. Anyone who watched TV within that decade knew her character and watched her grow up as the iconic girl-next-door and eternal love interest of Cory Matthews. Last seen in her Disney spin-off of the series, Girl Meets World, Topanga Lawrence now is just as clever and quirky as ever but, after years of being separated from the set, Topanga actress Danielle Fishel carries years of acting, directing, hosting, and education experience under her belt.
Fishel's mega-fame might rest peacefully in the '90s with Boy Meets World's young Topanga, but where is Danielle Fishel now? What happened to Danielle Fishel after parting ways with sitcom stardom is far from a tragic Hollywood story. Fishel continues to be an active entertainer, reaching out to take on more than just scripted sitcom gigs. Not only is she transitioning from starlet to mom, she has a degree, a husband, a book, and has been actively making her rounds in television as a spokesperson and host of talk shows and lifestyle brands.
She Wrote A Memoir, 'Normally, This Would Be Cause For Concern: Tales Of Calamity And Unrelenting Awkwardness'
To shed some light on her life before and after the Boy Meets World series, Danielle Fishel opens up to her audience in her memoir "Normally, This Would be Cause for Concern: Tales of Calamity and Unrelenting Awkwardness." When she began writing her memoir, she didn't see anything particularly interesting about herself. She was living a cozy life in Orange County, and her daily routines were rather mundane.
Instead of focusing on her day-to-day life, Fishel comes off as a humble, charming, and quirky narrator that combs through embarrassing stories and face-palm-inducing scenarios that reach out to the reader in a relatable way. Her book takes the reader on a tour of what it's like to navigate the real world as the awkward, ambitious, and aging Topanga Lawrence.
She Graduated From College With An Undergraduate Degree In Psychology At Age 31
For most of her early adulthood, Danielle Fishel was focused on her acting career. At the age of 27, she decided to turn her attention toward her education and continue it at California State University in Fullerton. Going back to school made her extremely nervous, and she credits much of her motivation to the encouragement of her friends and family:
I had attempted to go a couple times before then, even going so far as to take my placement exams and sign up for classes, but I could never follow through and actually go. I was too afraid of being the old lady in class, of being whispered about, and especially of not remembering how to do simple math equations.
After four years of studies, she obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology at the age of 31.

After Danielle Fishel studied psychology at Cal State Fullerton, she was in the works to become a marriage and family therapist and had been accepted into the Master's program at Chapman University. However, her education came to a brief halt when the spotlight beckoned her back for an official continuation of the Boy Meets World series.
Although, by this point in her television career, it seemed she had basically thrown in the towel, she didn't turn down Disney. When they called, she was back on set with Ben Savage in Girl Meets World. For three seasons, the two of them would be married and raising a preteen daughter and young son as an aged Cory and Topanga.
She Became A Spokeswoman For Nutrisystem
While making an appearance on The Tyra Banks Show, Danielle Fishel talked about how the NutriSystem diet plan helped her lose a significant amount of weight. In 2006, she became the celebrity face for the Nutrisystem diet plan, promoting the company's product through talk shows and commercial advertisements. She boasted about how the diet helped her with portion moderation and meal preparation. However, she could not maintain a healthy or comfortable weight through the diet and, as of 2010, dropped dieting altogether.
