Which Goth Anthem Are You Based On Your Zodiac?
The zodiac can be applied to every facet of your life. It can tell you about your innermost turmoil, how you act when you’re with someone you love, and it can even show you which kind of goth you are. For those goths who want to go deeper, there are more levels to explore. The zodiac can show which black-boot-stomping goth anthem represents you.
Whether you’re a Taurus who prefers to let the lush sounds of The Cure wash over your evenings or a Capricorn who needs the driving pulse of Andrew Eldritch to get you through your work day, there’s a banging track that speaks to the darkest recesses of your soul.

Aries (March 21 - April 19): 'Cities in Dust' - Siouxsie And The Banshees
The trailblazing spirit of all Ariens can be heard in "Cities in Dust," a straightforward club banger for the alt-nation. This track isn't concerned with being spooky or being the most goth - there are other Siouxsie and the Banshees songs for that - but it's a showcase for the band's amazing songwriting chops and proof the group is separate from any one scene.
Lyrically, the song is all about leaving modern culture behind before it crumbles, which is a clear indication of the song's inherent Aries inclinations. Ariens are never a group to hang out until the end of the party; they'd rather take off before the night descends into boredom.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20): 'Disintegration' - The Cure
The Cure's "Disintegration" is a massive, eight-minute build-up of excessive instrumentation that crescendos in a sensual explosion of synths and reverb-soaked guitars. Could there be anything more Taurus than that? The entire album, one of The Cure's finest, is an exercise in lush arrangements made with some of the finest instruments the '80s had to offer.
A Taurus has high standards and a need for emotional intimacy, which could practically be the subtitle of "Disintegration." The song deals with the narrator's need to feel the raw sense of urgency that comes with new love while understanding that, to find that kind of romance, he has to break apart his current relationship rather than just disappear.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' - Bauhaus
This standout track from Bauhaus is both an anthem to every goth who feels like dancing with themselves and an experimental piece of music inspired by post-punk band Suicide. The song skitters along to its own beat, making for a cutting-edge piece of music regardless of genre.
Similarly, Geminis do whatever they want, whenever they want, without regard for what they were doing the day before. They're ruled by Mercury, which deepens their adventurous spirit and pushes them to try things other signs are afraid of - like releasing a song that's all build-up and no release.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22): 'Song To The Siren' - This Mortal Coil
Cancers are naturally intuitive and caring people. Regardless of what they're doing, in their hearts, they just want to make sure everyone is having a good time and feels loved. If they have to walk barefoot across broken glass to make someone happy, then that's what they'll do.
This Mortal Coil's "Song to the Siren" is all about giving someone a shoulder to cry on, and in some ways, just begging to be that shoulder. The lyrics "here I am waiting to hold you" are indicative of the track's inner Cancer tendencies - so much so that it's shocking all cancers don't have this statement tattooed on their clavicles.

Leo (July 23 - August 22): 'Assimilate' - Skinny Puppy
Listeners can pick virtually any Skinny Puppy track and be confronted with the in-your-face aggression of this gothy synth group, but "Assimilate" is definitely the song that takes this aural onslaught to a new level. The song is both pop-oriented and frightening at the same time.
Like Leos, the track is initially abrasive and a bit much, but the longer it plays, the more magnetic it becomes. "Assimilate" is an ambitious tune that strives to do more than simply be a hit within the goth community. As a quintessentially Leo song, it seeks to take over the world.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22): 'Pagan Lovesong' - Virgin Prunes
With Virgos, the devil's in the details. On the outside they're calm, they're cool, they're smooth as the top of a lake on a windless day; but under the surface, they're chaos and analytical fervor. The lyrics of Virgin Prunes' "Pagan Lovesong" describe someone with the same qualities, someone who's "an animal within."
"No sun shines for me," lead singer Gavin Friday croons - which just about sums up life for Virgos. They may be good listeners with great advice, but they rarely allow themselves to relax. They're constantly looking for problems to solve or puzzles to dive into.
