List RulesVote up the personalities and public figures who could credibly fill Trebek's shoes and might realistically accept a gig hosting the beloved trivia show.
Who should host Jeopardy! next? In these terrifying times, the mere idea of anyone but Alex Trebek presiding over America's favorite trivia gauntlet is almost too grisly to entertain. Since 1984, he has been the endlessly charismatic and formerly mustachioed face of the show, offering contestants encouragement and signature Trebek sassy moments even after he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2019.
With Trebek's tragic passing at the age of 80, however, someone else will inevitably have to host Jeopardy!, so who should replace Trebek? The longtime host himself suggested Laura Coates or Alex Faust to step behind the podium. Who can possibly wrangle the three-ring circus of arcane knowledge, lightning-fast responses, and even clever Jeopardy! answers? In November 2020, producers announced that Jeopardy! "Greatest of All Time" champion Ken Jennings would be the first in a series of interim hosts when the show returns in January 2021. “By bringing in familiar guest hosts for the foreseeable future, our goal is to create a sense of community and continuity for our viewers,” said Mike Richards, the show’s executive producer.
