(Update: On April 10, 2014, it was announced that Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman as host of the "Late Show.")
On April 3, 2014, fans of late night TV were met with the surprising (but not-so-surprising) news that David Letterman was stepping down from his "Late Show" on CBS after spending the past 34 years on TV (32 on late night). His "Late Night" show on NBC is where Letterman came into his own before jumping to CBS in 1993, where he's been since. So, who will replace David Letterman when he leaves his seat from behind the desk? Speculation is running rampant.
******SPOILER ALERT ******
Interestingly enough, season three of Louie, there was a teaser angle where Louis C.K. auditions for Letterman's show when he's supposed to retire. After he nails the audition, it ends up being a negotiating ploy where Letterman stays until...2015. Is this life imitating art? We shall see. Wouldn't it be something if CBS is able to lure Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel? There are a number of leaders in the clubhouse, but it's up to you to decide who you think will become the next host of the Late Show. There are plenty of interesting, far-ranging options on this list, and feel free to add some of your own picks down on here.
