For eight seasons, we all wondered who would end up with their buttcheeks on the Iron Throne as the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms on Game of Thrones. Way back in Season 1, Cersei Lannister told Ned Stark, "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die," and the subsequent liberation of Ned's head from his cumbersome body proved how right she was. After that, Cersei spent her fair share of time on the most coveted seat in Westeros, succeeding her husband Robert Baratheon, her demonic spawn Joffrey, and, of course, dear sweet Tommen.

None of them could hold on to power, though, so it wasn't a surprise when Cersei's reign didn't continue unabated. Dany briefly returned a Targaryen to the seat of power, but Jon Snow remained very "Jon Snow" and murdered his lover before she could harm any more innocents.

While the Iron Throne itself is gone (thanks to an angry Drogon) Bran Stark ended up Westeros's rightful ruler. As Tyrion said, stories unite people, and to Tyrion, no one's story was as powerful as Bran the Broken's. Jon made his way back to the Night Watch, Arya Stark went to discover what was west of Westereos, and Sansa Stark served as the Queen of the newly independent North.
