Tim Burton's Beetlejuice is a proud product of the 1980s. Considering our present-day multiplexes and streaming platforms are packed with dramatic indie fare or epic superhero sagas, it's tough to imagine a $15 million fantasy-comedy-horror about an irritating monster in a striped suit capturing the poltergeist... or zeitgeist.
