Tim Burton's Beetlejuice is a proud product of the 1980s. Considering our present day multiplexes and streaming platforms are packed with dramatic indie fare or epic superhero sagas, it's tough to imagine a $15 million fantasy-comedy-horror about an irritating monster in a striped suit capturing the poltergeist... or zeitgeist. Yet, when you look at the original Beetlejuice cast and start fantasizing about which actors would be in the film if it was made today, the Michael Keaton classic takes on a whole new life.
While not many people are pining for another eccentric haunted house film like Beetlejuice, the only think other than Marvel movies doing well at the box office as of 2019 are reboots. If it's a reboot of a classic film from the '80s or '90s, it's almost guaranteed to turn out a crowd. Rumor has it, if you say Beetlejuice three times producers will relent to a wacky, modern take on a the nonsensical classic.
Hide your goth kids, shape-shift into a claymation monster, and vote up the best casting choices from your dream reboot of Beetlejuice.
