It's easy to get lost in the world of Game of Thrones, or A Song of Ice and Fire. The epic fantasy series features adventure, romance, and escapism, all in a fully realized setting. For some genre fans, living in Westeros would be a dream come true. It has all the whimsy of a renaissance fair, with the added bonus of plenty of sex. Who wouldn't want to go there?
You, that's who. You definitely wouldn't want to live there. In fact, even if you could make it to George R.R. Martin's fictional realm, there's little chance of you surviving in Westeros. Living there would be hell if you were magically transported there. Fortunately, you'd likely die within the first week, so your suffering wouldn't last.
If you're wondering what it would be like to live in Westeros, you've come to the right list. But to put it bluntly, you'd be dead as f*ck if you lived in the Game of Thrones universe.
Dragons Would Set You On Fire Or Eat You
Dragons were thought to have died out in Westeros, but a certain khaleesi brought them back with a vengeance. Her "children" have very sharp teeth and very hot breath, and are known to prefer the taste of human flesh.
You'd Get Lost And Die of Exposure
If you got lost, would you be able to find your way back home without a GPS? Maybe you could on Earth, but Westeros is a whole different story. Even if you're a big GoT fan who has memorized the map, it won't help you avoid areas currently overrun with battles or being invaded by White Walkers.
Westeros is also known for its extreme climates. Even if you did dodge danger, you'd likely freeze to death or die of dehydration in the desert.
You'd Lose A Swordfight
Most modern individuals aren't expert swordsmen. Even if you know your hilt from your blade, you don't stand a chance against the average Westerosi. Most people there have been training with a sword since childhood. Chances are their experience will outweigh yours, so any soldier, bandit, or child with a blade could slice you down or run through you at a moment's notice.
You'd Die From An Infection
Westeros is a lot like the Dark Ages, in that disinfectant and antibiotics aren't used in cleaning wounds. Many Westerosis don't die from their wounds, but rather from infections. Even an infected papercut can be a cause of death if poorly treated. Bottom line: if an infection can take down Khal Drogo, it would certainly kill you dead.
