On December 2, 2017, the Ghost Hunt UK investigative team set up shop in a haunted house in St. Osyth, Essex, England, hoping to find proof of the paranormal... and they got much more than they anticipated. A woman volunteering with the group who’s only known as “Debbie” joined the list of people who were possessed when a demon passed through her body - and the whole thing was captured on camera. Most footage from paranormal investigators is the classic shaky night-vision footage that rarely shows anything of substance. But that’s definitely not what’s in this footage of a woman possessed by a witch's ghost.
Seeing a woman possessed by a ghost caught on camera is so much creepier than it sounds. Her face contorts and her body changes, almost as if whatever’s inside her is just trying out her skin to see if it fits. When the Ghost Hunt UK team investigated one of the most haunted places in Britain, they probably assumed they were going to get interesting footage, but they couldn’t have imagined they would get something as scary as this.
Vanessa Mitchell, the woman who owns the house, moved out in 2012 after a series of creepy occurrences left her fearing for the life of her child. Mitchell claims she was physically assaulted by a presence in the house and her security cameras often caught what looked like a goat walking upright around her home in the middle of the night.
The final straw came when Mitchell felt that the being or beings that haunted her home were attracted to her infant. She didn't to put her child through the trauma of the paranormal so she got out. She still shows the house but refuses to stay after dark.
It appears everyone who visits the house has had some kind of run-in with a spirit in one form or another. Photographer Ron Bowers alleges in 2013 he was able to snap a pic of some spooky spirits. The beings look as if they're made of smoke and they're certainly very creepy.
Bowers has been working on a documentary about the home for quite some time, but he had to take a break when the paranormal activity became too much for him. He claims he saw something so scary in the house it still gives him nightmares. Bowers said, "I’m not a religious man, and yet I go to bed every night clutching a crucifix for my own safety. After a few days, I got to learn the natural noises of the house. Now the non-natural keep me awake at night."
A few people have claimed the haunting extends to alley behind the home. Paranormal investigator Chris Halton was even able to capture one of the beings on camera. In 2016, he took a picture of a ghostly figure contorting its body in the alley as the street lights bend around it.
Halton notes that the alley was supposedly used as a quick way to dispose of witches who died in The Cage. He claims the nighttime disposals were made "so no one would notice." Halton believes the figure in the photo is some of the residual energy from one of those clandestine disposals long ago.
One thing every paranormal investigator knows is ghosts affect electronic energy in a variety of ways. They've been known to scramble video signals, bust lights, and wreak havoc with major home appliances. Upon entering the Essex home, the Ghost Hunt UK team noticed their electromagnetic field sensors spiking - whatever was in the house was definitely powerful.
During their investigation, the group experienced blinking lights, strange sounds, and odd electronic signals. Estate agent Lawrence Anthony said about the house: "The Cage has been investigated many times by paranormal groups and a high level of paranormal activity has been recorded here."
