The Deadpool movie deserves to be rated R for a myriad of reasons: his sense of humor is hardly PG-13, he's as adult-themed as they come, and he's about as violent as a comic character can be. While Marvel characters like Punisher or Moon Knight are great at inflicting all sorts of gruesome violence, Deadpool is great at both dishing it and receiving it.
In fact, thanks to his healing factor, Wade Wilson might actually be better at getting horrifically injured. This is a guy who once told himself "Remember, hurting yourself is your super-power." And he definitely puts in the work. You name it, it's probably happened to him. The Merc with a Mouth gets injured for a living, after all.
