The boom in selfie stick popularity may have originated within the extreme sports community, but now the constant use of them in public has gotten extremely out of hand. There's an awful stigma attached to people using selfie sticks to take pictures in of themselves in public, and rightfully so. They seem to bring out the worst in the truly self-absorbed, which is why they've become the worldwide symbol of idiocy and narcissism. While they selfie stick may actually prove to be a valuable invention at some point in time, now is most certainly not that time. No one needs that many pictures of themselves.
