List Rules Vote up the things you really wouldn't want to happen unexpectedly while you were running an errand.
Anxiety is harsh mistress. Actually it’s not even a mistress. That would imply that anxiety is sometimes nice to have around. Anxiety is more like a guy standing across the street from you with a baseball bat, pounding it into his palm and screaming at you. That is to say that even if you’re not gripped with terror at this exact moment, you know at some point that you’re going to be getting smashed over the head with a baseball bat made of stress. One of the largest causes of anxiety for anxious people is having to leave your home. Obviously you feel safe in your house or apartment – that’s where your bed and Netflix live, why would anything bad happen there? This list is all about the things outside your apartment. You guessed it, it’s the worst things that could happen if you go outside.
One of the major things that people who don’t live with anxiety don’t understand is that those of us who are dealing with anxiety, know that these fears are irrational. No one (that we know of at least) is hanging out at home saying to themselves, “thank goodness I’m afraid that someone is going to kidnap me, I really didn’t want to go to that party.” If we could create a graph of anxiety for someone who’s never felt it, it would be a giant 3D feedback loop of terror, shame, and sadness.
Vote up the worst things that you think can happen to you if you leave the house, aka things people with anxiety don't want, aka the worst things that could happen. And if you have an all new anxiety that we haven’t thought of, please add it to the list so we can have yet another reason to stay indoors.
