Wrestling demands much of its performers: grueling travel schedules, tough physical performances, and camera-ready charisma at all times. In order to keep audiences captivated, professional wrestlers must possess performance skills on the microphone as well as inside the ring. Mic skills are so important, in fact, that it’s common practice for wrestlers to utilize managers or other “mouthpieces” when they lack the gift of gab - the way Paul Heyman so eloquently represents his client, Brock Lesnar.

Many talented wrestling personalities have owned the mic in their day, but even the best professionals like Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and Booker T have their off days. This has led to the recording of some of the silliest and most dumbfounding things ever uttered by modern humans. From accidentally dropping slurs to forgetting lines to mumbling sheer nonsense, here are some of the funniest pro-wrestling promos and microphone fails in history.

Now, whether or not you love the particular wrestler is moot: regardless of how great you think they are, vote up the all-time worst promos in wrestling history to see which botched promo is the worst of all time.

  • The Miz’s First RAW Appearance
    Video: YouTube

This RAW promo from July 6th, 2006, is proof that we all have to start somewhere, and can improve at anything if we work hard enough for it. This was the Miz’s first chance to show off his charisma in front of a large audience, but he wound up a babbling mess instead. It’s most definitely cringe worthy, and a stark contrast from the confident, well-developed Miz we know today.

  • The Shockmaster’s Debut
    Video: YouTube

This is one of those botches that’s so bad, it’s good, and is one of the most viral images to date as a result. In 1993, the WWE Universe was introduced to a new character destined to stand out in fans’ memories forever - though not how the company had intended. Next time you find yourself in an embarrassing situation, just remember that at least you’re not the Shockmaster!

  • Roman Reigns: Sufferin' Succotash
    Video: YouTube

It’s no secret that pro-wrestlers often find themselves having to read poorly written lines by writers backstage. This issue made itself apparent when Roman Reigns interrupted Seth Rollins during Smackdown 2015. What we have here is a jumbled mess of alliteration and childish insults that sounds like something your 10-year-old nephew would write, not a professional adult working for one of the largest companies in the world.

    Kalisto Does Good Lucha Things

    Kalisto Does Good Lucha Things

It’s hard enough to cut good promos, not to mention in a language that isn’t your native tongue. This probably had a lot to do with the way Kalisto jumbled his words during an interview on the 2016 WWE Draft. Luckily, no luchadores were harmed in the making of this film, and Kalisto went on to accomplish many great Lucha things.
