Here are pictures of a young Benicio Del Toro, including several from his first major role in film as the bad guy in the 007 movie License to Kill, in which he was only 21 years old. Born on February 19, 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, both of his parents were lawyers and he is related to Puerto Rican professional basketball player Carlos Arroyo and Spanish pop-eurodance singer Rebeca Pous Del Toro. He was raised in a Roman Catholic home and his childhood nicknames were “Skinny Benny” and “Beno.” Del Toro’s mother passed away from hepatitis when he was only 9 years old; his family moved to the United States when he was 12 and he was enrolled at the Mercersburg Academy. He attended the University of California, San Diego and pursued a degree in business but because of how well he did in a drama course, he dropped out early to pursue a career as an actor. He studied in Los Angeles with well known teachers, Stella Adler and Arthur Mendoza, as well as with the Circle in the Square Theatre School, in New York City.
