After earning an Emmy Award for his performances on SNL, Murray landed roles in other popular films like Meatballs, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, What about Bob? and Groundhog Day. His role in Lost in Translation earned him Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award for Best Actor, among others. His collaboration with director Wes Anderson paid off after he scored roles in the films Rushmore, The Royal Tennenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Murray was raised with eight siblings, and he was a former golf caddy and singer in the band called “Dutch Masters.” He also participated in his high school community theater, where he began to develop his skills.
