He began taking uncredited film roles in movies like No Way Out, No Man's Land, and Less Than Zero in 1987. He made his television debut shortly after in a two-part episode of the NBC soap opera, Another World. His first major television roles included guest spots on Growing Pains, Dallas, and 21 Jump Street. A year later, in 1988, Pitt was given his very first feature film role in The Dark Side of the Sun. He continued to frequent small roles in film and television over the next few years, until he landed a supporting role in the 1991 Thelma & Louise film, opposite Geena Davis. His love scene with Davis is widely credited as the moment that launched his career as an international sex symbol.
Brad Pitt began garnering movie roles left and right in the early '90s. He starred in many feature films, such as Interview with the Vampire, Seven, Meet Joe Black, and Chuck Palahniuk's cult-classic, Fight Club. Following Fight Club, Pitt starred in Snatch, The Mexican, Troy, and Ocean's Twelve.
While filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, Brad Pitt met his now-wife, Angelina Jolie. The two have six children together, three of which have been internationally adopted. He and his wife are global human-rights activists, and frequently participate in charities, such as The ONE Campaign, Not On Our Watch, Doctors Without Borders, and many more. They are both supporters of same-sex marriage, and often raise awareness for issues going on in other countries.
Pitt went on to star in several box-office hits, like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Burn After Reading, Inglorious Bastards, The Tree of Life, World War Z, Moneyball, Fury, and 12 Years A Slave. His is credited as a producer on 12 Years A Slave, World War Z and The Departed. He has been nominated for several Academy Awards for both acting and producing, and has received a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actor's Guild Award.
