This slideshow features photos of the handsome Beatles rock star, John Lennon, when he was young. The Beatles was the most commercially successful band in history, and Lennon’s songwriting partnership with band-mate Paul McCartney lead to the production of hit songs “Hey Jude,” “Let it Be,” “Yesterday” and “She Loves You.” After the band dismembered in 1970, Lennon went on to write solo hits and perform them, including “Give Peace a Chance,” “Imagine” and “Working Class Hero.” His famous marriage to Yoko Ono inspired him to officially change his name to “John Ono Lennon.” His solo album sales in the United States alone are over 14 million and he maintained 25 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was named the fifth greatest singer of all time by “Rolling Stone Magazine” and was inducted posthumously into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1987. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a Beatle and a solo artist. Lennon was tragically murdered only three weeks after releasing his album “Double Fantasy” in 1980.
