REPORT: Steelers DB Receives Massive Fine for Late Hit on Alex Smith
The Steelers may have gotten a win, but it surely didn't come without a cost.
In Sunday's game, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith stepped up in the pocket to deliver a pass on third down.
Shortly after the ball left his hand, Smith took a low shot from Steelers safety Mike Mitchell.
The hit, which Smith later called "extremely late", will cost Mitchell a substantial amount of money, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
It's hard to not say the punishment fits the crime.
Not only did the hit look unnecessarily late, but it was way too low. Mitchell has got to be far more careful. This could have ended up pretty badly for Smith and
