The show initially performed well in the ratings, but dropped off strongly in the first season. It was eventually cancelled during its third season. However, the show&#39;s cult status and passionate fanbase transformed it into one of the most famous and iconic TV and film series of all time (and they even made a <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/star-trek-games/video-game-info" target="_blank">Star Trek video game series</a>). There have since been numerous spin-off shows (including <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-star-trek-the-next-generation-episodes/reference" target="_blank">Star Trek: The Next Generation</a>, Deep Space Nine,&nbsp;and <a href="https://www.ranker.com/list/best-star-trek-voyager-episodes/reference" target="_blank">Star Trek: Voyager</a>.)
